Kindle/Sony comparison by Piers Anthony!
« on: August 26, 2009, 06:10:01 am »
Piers Anthony does a newsletter on his website and this month he devoted part of it to comparing the Sony and the Kindle.  It starts in the fifth paragraph.  I had to share!

Interestingly enough, some of his stuff that is available for kindle might be considered objectionable by prudes....  I wonder if he knows his books are in the kindle store.

He knows.  When I first got my Kindle I bought a few of the Xanth books then emailed Piers to ask if/when the Incarnations of Immortality series might be available.  He said he was glad I was reaquainting myself with Xanth and the issue of making the other books available for the Kindle was in the publishers hands.

Piers Anthony reviewed my book Phoenix Tales in that newsletter about four years ago. He's a straight-shooting gentleman who has no problem telling you exactly what he thinks, but he's also a very nice, openminded man as well (and obviously, a great writer!).

The link by the OP apparently takes you to the most recent newsletter -- unfortunately, the latest one is a sad tale for the Anthony family.  His daughter Penny died in early September and he devoted most of the following newsletter to her memory.  It is a good read and a window into the soul of Mr. Anthony if you have a box of tissues handy.

    Thanks for fixing that, Betsy!

I did read the current (Oct-Ogre) newsletter with Kleenex at hand. It was heart wrenching.  Prayers to Penny's family and friends.

It was indeed very sad and beautiful at the same time as Mr. Anthony showed the depth of his love for his daughter.  Prayers, indeed, to the Anthony family and friends.
