VERY IMPORTANT!
« on: October 20, 2009, 07:54:23 pm »
So basically, the #1 feature of the Kindle that would keep me from buying a Nook is... www.KindleBoards.com!!! duh! So can we go ahead and make an agreement that all of you who decide to abandon the Kindle in favor of the Nook will still stay active here at KB? How about we get Harvey to change the site name to www.KindleNook.com? That'd work, right? Or for future compatibility, what about www.eBookBoards.com?

C'mon people, are you with me?!

I have to agree, staying with this board would be the number one reason to stay with the Kindle. ;D

As long as at least ONE of your readers is a Kindle, you can stay on KindleBoards!  ;D

I don't think I'd ever give up Kindleboards, no matter what reader I be using! Too much fun, too many good compatriots.

You absolutely have to stay here! I just came and I am really happy to have found this board, so you just can't go away. And at the moment it sounds like many people are considering switching from Kindle to nook...
And I am really curious about everyone's first impressions and experiences with it. I just got my Kindle today (YAY) and am in love, so I won't consider a new reader for a long ven if nookie comes to Germany at some point, but it is always great to hear from others!

    Let the nook-watches begin;)

I am going to be a kindle - nook switcher but I will stay on the kindle boards!  I like it here! As all the new readers start to appear it will be interesting to see all the new features. I can now say to people, do you kindle?  Do you Nook??

I'm fairly new to KindleBoards and totally agree about how welcoming and informative this board is. I certainly hope all lovers of ereading will be continue to share in and benefit from the lively/positive discussions here - even if it's mostly populated with K owners and K-centric talk.

    I love the "KindleLove" here!

    Well. . . .considering you don't even have to have a Kindle to be a member here. . . .I don't see a problem.

That said, anyone who comes here and actively badmouths the Kindle isn't going to be very warmly welcomed. :D

I'd be surprised if anyone switched, but there are some neat advantages to the Nook, and I can certainly conceive of someone (for whom the cost wouldn't be a killer) getting a second ereader such as the Nook to use alongside their Kindle and enjoy the unique advantages of a second device.  I definitely like the idea of being able to browse in any book over wireless at the B&N store, that's an even better way to evaluate than a sample!  I eventually plan to get a second reader, but not sure if it will be the Nook or not.  But it will be alongside my Kindle, not a replacement!

I do not see myself buying the Nook.  I would like to think that Amazon is watching all
of the developments with the new readers on coming into the market, and at some
point in the future we'll see some advancements with Ks.
Think about it.  Amazon came out with their first reader that put the others to shame in
my opinion.  It can only go uphill from there.  Just my opinion.

I may be getting a nook but will also keep my K2. The primary reason I would get it is for the native pdf and epub format support. I will actually test drive a nook using one of my math pdf files to insure I can see the equations and 3D graphs correctly.

I plan on always having a Kindle.  I would get a second reader in order to have library access for books also if Amazon doesn't add that option in the future.  There are just a lot of books that I want to read but have no intention of reading them a second time and have no desire to own them.  A good example is the J.D Robb In Death series.  There are 30+ books in the series so far with more to come.  If the Kindle versions average $6 each.... it would cost around $200 to buy the books in the series so far.... with more too come.  Just not in my budget.... so I still depend on the library even though I do NOT like reading DTBs any longer.

PraiseGod, I agree completely with you.  I want to read the J.D. Robb In Death series also, but I'm
not happy about paying $7.00 or more for 35 or more books.  Honestly, another reader with library book
access would pay for itself based on that series alone.

The prices on the B&N ebooks stink. I'm pretty settled with my kindle for now. Not saying that in a few years as the whole market sorts out that there won't be something better but for now, my head isn't turned even a little bit by the nook.

Having started the In Death series in July, I can only say a few things. 1) Sooooo worth every pennny. 2) Really, if you read a book a week, it isn't that expensive! Bring lunch from home one day to  make up the difference. 3) not all books are $6.39. 24 of them are and the rest vary.

Anyway, truth be told I would love to have gotten them thru the library and saved all this money, but I love my Kindle too much to worry about how much money I am spending and if I could have gotten it at the library. It is a self indulgent toy to be enjoyed, IMHO!

I invested too much into the kindle + to switch now. I did get square trade so iff something happens I can decide then. with the k books it would have to be way good and I don't see that happening now the kdx or next best k has more of a chance.
