Probably just me and/or my browser (IE), but the book advertisements in the headers are running vertically instead of horizontally.  I travel around KB by starting at the Index page, clicking a forum header and then using the Jump to at the bottom to go between forums.  I have to scroll more than half way down a page to get to posts at this point.

Hmm, can you help me picture what that looks like? I've tested it in IE11 and the banner ads and featured book ads appear to be displaying properly for me...

Some folks signature lines have HUGE covers now that didn't before, and add another vote for being able to change color schemes again.  I've turned down the brightness level on my laptop quite a bit which helps, but the pretty new site is giving me a headache already.
Thanks for all your hard work, Harvey.

There are a few covers that we'll need to fix; working on that over the next few days. It shouldn't be long before all covers are our standard 125-pixel high size.

ETA:  I just tried out the chat function to make sure all is well there.  Chat is no longer opening in a new window.  When I closed Chat, I closed KBoards.

Thanks -- I'll check that out tonight.

Congratulations Harvey on making the transition.  I know well enough how hard these things can be.   Looks lovely, and it's nice to see the old data still here :)

Thanks, Harvey.  When I logged back in tonight, the headers seem to have straightened out.  I'm sure I was just impatient earlier.

    A few changes / tweaks:

I did some testing tonight on different font sizes; I found that increasing the overall font size was not appealing, as the larger text in the profile and buttons became quite overpowering. However, I did bump up the text size in the posts themselves. Hopefully that'll make reading posts from iPads and other mobile devices a bit easier.

I took a little intensity out of the blue color used for displaying linked text. It's not quite as distractingly bright as before.

I fixed the chat link, and a few other links, to open a new browser tab when clicked.

The font size is much better. Can you increase the font in the quoted text as well?

    Good! Thank you.

Yes, we can bump up the display size for quoted text. I probably won't go quite as high with that, to differentiate it from the main post content.

How did you activate the chat? Do I have to do something? I click on chat and it opens in a new tab but all I get is page with the menus on top. You know, home, social, etc. The rest of the page is just a pale blue, or grey or what that color is. Do I have to sign in for the chat somewhere?

eta: Ok, so I found the empty box. I had adblock on and it won't pull up chat with it. But now I have to hunt down java, I swear I just got that. Computers will be the death of me one day I swear.

Another person voting for a change of colour, please. I've had to reduce my screen brightness quite a bit. I'd like my soothing green back.  :-*
harvey, did we lose the ability to change the scren colors?  this new schema is way too bright for my eyes.

Looks fantastic and very fresh! :)

I'm looking for this as well. My only prob is the orange 'new' button that is next to all the threads with new posts. Too much contrast for me. I'd rather it also be blue.

Just want to add my me too to this!  8)

Thanks for your work keeping this place running Harvey!

Oh, I saw that last night on Chrome, but I thought it was because H.M.Ward had pasted from her Blog. https://www.kboards.com/index.php/topic,180925.0.html. Looked like a charset (UTF-8 ?) issue to me, Harvey?

    Vydor,

If you go to your Profile, and look at Look and Layout Preferences, is "Return to topics after posting by default." checked?

    Nathalie,

as Jeff says, the accented e isn't in the currect character set used by the new forum software.  I'm sure Harvey will deal with it, but it may take a few days.  In the meantime, you can change your accented e to a plain e in your name and signature, or wait it out...

    We're working on it!
