Read the sordid story in Gaughran's new blog post, and share it around to all author friends. Heck, share with all your friends, everywhere.

It cannot be repeated too often: David Gaughran does so much for authors.

Also, David Gaughran should have followed his mother's advice and been a solicitor. ;)

Ooh, I feel an idea for new novel coming on...

These guys are bold beyond belief, and those who get into bed with them knowingly, must be called out.

Did you see AS at the Tuscon festival? I had meant to post to Gaughran's stuff in the other thread, but forgot until today.

I was planning on going to the festival until I heard this. Pity, but there's now way I'll participate in a festival that endorses Author Solutions.

    Awful.

Everyone who was going, and now it's, be sure to let the Festival know why!

I may be the prawniest of prawns, but I'm still a Bay Area guy, so I just left a nice snarky post on their Facebook page. Not that I'll be missed, but in this case, every bit helps.

Yes, there were there, Fortunately, not attracting much attention. We joked about conducting civil disobedience of some sort against them, but eventually decided against it.

Jeez, I live in San Francisco and I'm shocked this is being done in "partnership with San Francisco Chronicle"! That's the main newspaper here. I read the online version every day. I'll be emailing them to ask them if they're aware of author solutions. Maybe Author Solutions can be featured on "People behaving badly": https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Qc4Ql_FAcXrv4KR97VaGw . ;D

Wow. I'm even more surprised to see our current Lt. Governor and former mayor (San Francisco) Gavin Newsom appearing to offer his support to them on their website via a tweet:

It's weird the shout out appears to be for a now closed Indiego campaign from December:

And not the actual book fair? Not sure, but just seeing the current Lt. Governor (he's already running for Governor of California in 2018: http://www.gavinnewsom.com/) appear to support an event sponsored by Author Solutions shows the powers that be just doesn't care. If a politician isn't worried about it, no wonder event organizers don't care.

I hope they lose the class action lawsuit so badly it kills not only Author Solutions, but damages Penguin as well, as a lesson to all the other trad publishers with little scammy side businesses.
