Ibrew, is it customary for the dads to make the arrow for their son?  You did a great job on it.

Karen made me breakfast this morning in honor of my birthday.  She started doing it several years ago and hasn't missed since.  Toast with honey, juice and fresh fruit.  Yum.

Tomorrow hubby and I head off for a night to celebrate our 20th anniversary.  Still not sure where we're going - too many good ideas.

Thanx...it's somewhat customary for the Dad's to do the arrows, but I do know a couple of Moms that did their son's.  Nothing hard and fast.

Happy Birthday/Anniversary, Mom2Karen!  My Dad's birthday is on his and my Stepmom's anniversary too.  Makes for a bigger party.   :D  Congrats on 20 as well!!!

Wow, got all excited at the birthday and completely missed the anniversary!  Congratulations on 20 years!  Twenty years gifts are suppose to be china or platinum.

    Happy Birthday! Happy Anniversary!  :D :D :D

I am completely punchy now, having just gotten back in the house at midnight. Day started at 5 a.m. and I was running constantly. Egad!
Sorry I missed you guys today.

I'll leave you with a trivia question:

A part of Magra's body is very badly scarred. What part is it, and what caused the scars?

Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary Mom2Karen.

Today we took the granddaughters to Tombstone. We spent quite a while in the courthouse museum and then did a lot of walking. They are currently watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. (DH's computer is still not virus free.  >:()

Lord Magra's right arm is badly scarred from the fires of the Bdvari.

Anna, you are just too fast for me!
     :D
STILL infected? I'm sorry...that's a real pain in the you-know-where! I hope you get it fixed soon.  :-\

Fima tells a (rather improbable) story about a dragon in 'Fire-heart'. What is the dragon's name?

What is the difference between a dragon and a drake?

    Now, a multiple choice question:
If Archer doesn't go to bed RIGHT NOW, she will turn into a:

    a. quivering mass of protoplasm
    b. blithering idiot
    c. enormous mound of weary wombat wattles
    d. all of the abovezzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes, still infected. The infection is reduced but not yet completely gone. Also, I am not working on the computer full time. ;D This morning I found instructions, using my computer, on the Internet for how to get rid of the sdra64.exe file; however it seems as if there is still one problem file hiding somewhere. It shows up each time contact with the Internet is allowed again. After the current scan finishes, I will make sure all of the browser caches are empty.

I suspect the answer to the last question is: d. all of the abovezzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    ;)

Fima tells a story about the fire-drake named Redruin (Ainrath).

Winged dragons can fly while fire-drakes, who breathe flame, and cold-drakes, who do not breathe flame, do not fly.

I always enjoy the elves of Alterra.
I am also taken with the elves that inhabit the worlds of Terry Brooks.
    And there are many others.
But none as delightful as our little wood-elf.

Some of you were speaking of soup, which I believe would be a staple any beings while the travel (elves, dwarves, men, asari).
I enjoy both eating and making soup, but alas mine always becomes a stew I am afraid.  I just like "stuff" in my soup.

    Just sayin.......

Would anyone like an amazing recipe for 'Archer's chicken stew?

    Okay!
Dice some onions and fresh garlic...not too much. Saute in olive oil until brown (I use about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of olive oil).
Now add some cut-up chicken breast (I like about five breast filets cut into small cubes). Sear the meat in the hot oil until the outside is slightly browned. NOW add 1 8 oz can of tomato sauce, plus one of water, then fill up the empty can with a good red wine and add that. Pepper and fresh Basil are nice, too...but no salt! Simmer this mixture for about an hour. NOW add cut up potatoes (skin on) and carrots. Cook until thick and wonderful! (Med-low heat).

You can make it meatless, too!  Just substitute Portobello mushrooms. It also works with beef, pork, or venison.

Yum!  Cut and paste, cut and paste!

Any general clue what 'not too much' onions and garlic looks like?  I'm from a school of thought/cooking that says there's no such thing as 'too much' onions and garlic!

Exactly why I don't specify. To you, 'not too much' is a different quantity than it is to me! I don't like heavy amounts of either flavor, so I use maybe 1/3 of an average Vidalia onion and about three 'petals' of garlic.

    (Your mileage may vary!)

Well...no elves appear in my fantasy, but Archer invited me here anyway. :D

Once you try real homemade cream of mushroom soup, there's no going back to Campbell's.

Take a couple of cups (one of those small boxes) of fresh sliced button mushrooms and sautee them in butter with half a minced onion until it's all tender. Pour in a can of vegetable stock and puree with a stick blender. Add another can of stock and about a half cup of heavy cream and blend again. Heat through and serve with a twist of fresh-ground pepper on top. Accept compliments gracefully.

    Carolyn:

I will be making that tomorrow! I love mushroom soup. Yummy yum yum!
(Must be eaten in moderation, however...just a touch of sat/fat in there!)

I've got a bunch of dried Chanterelles...wonder if a few of those might be nice, as well?
Our woods are good for mushrooms--morels and chanterelles in abundance. I've taken to drying them so I can have them all year.

Agreed that it's rich, but milk can be substituted for cream. Sour cream works splendidly too, for a bit of tang.

I've only ever made it with storebought buttons (my woods only seem to like bracket fungi), but I'll bet the soup would be wicked good with morels/chanterelles and maybe a dash of sauterne!

Alas, no onions in my soups.   I am allergic to them.   So very little garlic either seeing as Garlic and onions are related.
