BookBub doesn't accept letters earned on multi-author box sets

I posted that BookBub doesn't take into account letters earned on multi-author box sets. I'd heard it from friends who'd earned letters on individual titles, but decided I should find out for sure and appologize if I'd accidentally spread hearsay.

Hi Carolynn,

Thanks for reaching out! That is indeed correct—.unfortunately, it’s our editorial policy to only include individual bestseller statuses in our blurbs.

I do want to quickly note that, if it says "New York Times Bestseller" on the featured book cover, our readers will be able to see that in the email, so they’ll still be aware!

So if you change your covers it might help your BookBub, however it probably won't help you get the BookBub ad, and it won't be brought to readers' attention in the blurb.

    I think that is a good distinction to know, especially if you were going to work really hard at getting on a list with the idea that it would help you with Bookbub.

    Interesting. I wonder if they plan to hand check every single person who gets a Bookbub with a "USA Today" or "NYT" bestseller tag associated with the book? It seems like a lot of work for what ultimately doesn't matter that much (since as they note, it'll be right there on the cover anyway).

    No it's not "a lot of work". It takes less than 10 seconds to type a person's name into the search box on the USA Today website and see what title they made the list with. It would take longer to check reviews and averages of a title on Amazon.

    Yep, they do this. I know because I have my NYT letters from a boxed set and they used to list it in my BB blurbs and now they do not.
