I like day 2. Day 2 is beautiful. You should just say that's the end of your launch and call it a success!  ;D

    Good luck!

Yeah, I really should! The funny thing about mailing lists (well, mine, anyway) is they go on and on. The number of opens and clicks (and unsubscribes!) just trickles on for days. Who are these people who wait a week to open their emails???

Thanks for all the good wishes, people.

Pauline, how long did it take you to build to 1800 on your mailing list? And would you say the sales to subscribers ratio is typical for you?

Only about 250 of the 1800 are organic subscribers, and that's built up over about 18 months. Each new release brings a little splurge of new subscribers. The rest came from a giveaway through Ryan Zee, which cost me $50, and a freebie cross-promo with other historical romance authors, which was free. Plus a handful from some very expensive FB ads. The organics are much more engaged (higher open and click rates, and lower unsubscribe rates), but some of the freebie signups are engaged too.

I can't honestly say whether the sales to subscriber rate is typical because I've not had such a big list for previous releases. This is also the first time I've done a big-bang email, sending to the whole list at once, rather than trickling emails over several days. So far 36% of the list has opened the email, and 6% have clicked one of the buy buttons, so when the final numbers are in, which is usually 50-60% opens, I'd expect to get 8-10% of the list clicking through. I don't know whether this is good, bad or average.  :)

Sound as if sales might be quite good then once your usual open rate realises!

Yes, the featured characters are the brothers of a character from the first series.

No promo yesterday, just the tail-end of my mailing list email and the AMS and FB ads that have been running since before the launch. Sales were down to 26 (from 49), pages read were up to 3180 (from 2159) and rank stayed steady at 3K which I am very, very happy about. This is the highest rank any of my Regencies has achieved.  :D

Reviews are up to 15, and there were another 6 pre-orders on book 2, bringing the total to 47. That's something else I'm very, very happy about, since it's not out for another 2 months, and is $2.99.

For those interested in the ads, I've had an AMS sponsored ad running since about 10 days before release, using 500 keywords (mostly other Regency romance authors). At a bid of 51c it went like a steam train for about 3 days, then fell off a cliff. Since then, I've been running FB ads at about $50 per day, which I hate doing because I'm useless at them and they eat money, but they do work, I suppose.

No promo again today, just ads, but tomorrow sees the start of my scheduled promo with Awesomegang.

Starting position: book 1 has been on pre-order for a month at 99c so I can get promo booked

I'm very interested in this, having never had a pre-order available before. It makes sense to make it easier to schedule your promotions in advance. How does pre-order play with promo sites that require reviews?

Most of them have either a new release spot, which doesn't require reviews, or they just give you a free pass if you've had previous books with reviews. Some don't care about number of reviews. RobinReads was the only one that turned me down for lack of reviews - they say they will take books on pre-order, but they still have to comply with their review conditions, which is a bit tricky!

That is so helpful! I will definitely be trying this in the future. Thank you for sharing, and good luck with your promotions!

Good luck! So glad you don't charge us for following along, LOL. The secondary series, being tied to the first, sounds like a great way to go.  Following closely. :)
