THE GHOST CLUB
« on: December 09, 2017, 04:21:45 am »
In Victorian London, a select group of writers, led by Arthur Conan Doyle, Bram Stoker and Henry James held an informal dining club, the price of entry to which was the telling of a story by each invited guest.

These are their stories, containing tales of revenant loved ones, lost cities, weird science, spectral appearances and mysteries in the fog of the old city, all told by some of the foremost writers of the day. In here youll find Verne and Wells, Tolstoy and Checkov, Stevenson and Oliphant, Kipling, Twain, Haggard, Wilde and Blavatsky alongside their hosts.

Come, join us for dinner and a story.

The Ghost Club is a massively ambitious anthology of stories by classic authors as imagined by the extremely talented William Meikle. Massively entertaining, too. Simon Clark, author of the award winning The Night of the Triffids

    The launch event is done.

Many thanks to everybody who hosted me, talked to me, listened to me, shared my posts, reviewed the book and generally supported the whole effort. It's been a load of fun.

The links for everything are archived on my web site on this page if anybody missed something.

    http://www.williammeikle.com/abouttheghostclub.html

I do believe I'm done talking about myself for a while, although I've got a lot of things in the pipeline, so there could be a Meikle on Tour 2018 event to come.

In the meantime, the book is out there doing its thing, picking up great reviews and hopefully a few more to come.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

One last hurrah on THE GHOST CLUB launch tour, an interview with me at spook central, UK's popular HAUNTED magazine, where I talk about the book, and my own weird experiences with the other side.

There are a number of solid reasons to add The Ghost Club to your reading list. For example, you love a good ghost story, or maybe youve read and enjoyed Meikles Carnacki tales, or perhaps youre a fan of Victorian terror, or maybe you just enjoy a good read. Whatever your reason, happy reading.

THE SCI-FI AND FANTASY REVIEWER reads THE GHOST CLUB for #meiklemarch on Twitter

"A frankly astonishingly impressive accomplishment, writing 14 ghost stories in the voices of 14 different masters of the genre."

I've been listening to auditions for the audiobook. Given that each of the stories is told by a different 'author', and that there's a wide variety of countries, accents, age groups etc as protagonists, I was worried that we wouldn't get somebody who could handle it.

But it looks like we have, with a great voice actor who can switch seamlessly between a wide variety of 'voices'.

    This makes me very happy.

Heard the first fifteen minutes last night. Apart from telling him off for giving Arthur Conan Doyle,  a Scotsman, an upper class, cut-glass, English accent, it's very good :-) Once he gets Doyle right it's going to be spectacular.

I actually live in the city where Doyle used to work. I believe for the local British newspaper here in South Africa. And Tolkien was born here. Very cool.
