I'm still "old fashioned".  To date I've ordered one cover in advance of a book being anywhere close to remotely finished ... and ended up shelving that story for a few years.

Personally, I still prefer to be mostly finished with a story before I put out the order for a cover.

    I did! That way the artist has time to finish, and there are no worries. My artist had their software crash, so the cover was later than expected and if I was working on a tight deadline, that might be a little hard. I want all my covers to match, so I'm using the same person for a trilogy :)

    No - but only because I tend to pick a title at the last minute. In fact I think I still have a Goodreads question asking about a mystery missing book in my series which is actually just a discarded working title I was dumb enough to put in the Coming Next bit...
