Pictures in Kindle books?
« on: September 05, 2010, 07:17:19 pm »
My wife has had a K2 since May and LOVES it and I have read a few books on there but nothing with pictures. Well I am probably going to get Stephen Hawking's new book and I saw that it has 41 color illustrations and 7 b/w cartoons. So i'm assuming that the pictures will still be where they should be in the books but just transfered to black and white? If so i'll probably get the book on my new K3 which gets here Tuesday but if there are no pics then i'll be tempted to get the Hardcover. Thanks.

The pictures *should* be there and yes, they'll be black and white... BUT if you have downloaded the Kindle for PC app or one of the Kindle apps for phones or iPad you'll most likely be able to see the photos in color.

I do have the Kindle on PC app, so in theory I could read it on the Kindle then check out the pics on the PC app? That should suffice I think for what I want.

I didn't know that the iPhone app would display a Kindle book's pictures in color.  That's good news.  I have been buying books that I knew had a number of pictures in them.

Ok, it does have the pics. It must because the file size of a 208 page print book is like 13k bytes to download... but Pillars of the Earth is like 970 pages and is only 1/10th the file size to download. Guess that solves that question.  :P

You can download Stephen Hawkings' book to your PC or Mac and iPod Touch and get all the photos in color.  I read lots of Kindle books on my iPod Touch.  I am looking forward to reading the same book.
