Hello Kindlers. I am the author of the detective novel, The Crux Ansata, and the upcoming thriller, Leverage, featuring everyone's favorite family - The Mob.
They’re better books, or rather ebooks, than most in the genre, but they’re self-published so you’re right to be skeptical. After all, self-publishing is a bit like bragging about your test score after you’ve hacked into the school’s computer and given yourself an A.
Nevertheless, while I was busy writing, the print-on-paper book business was busy collapsing, so, like most fiction writers nowadays, I’ve had to take matters into my own hands (Thank you Amazon).
Of course, it’s immensely liberating not having to deal with agents and publishers, but it’s disconcerting for readers, because it means there isn't any qualitative filter beyond the author’s own judgment, which means there isn't any objective gatekeeper to keep the crap from getting through. And, if you're familiar with ebooks, you know an awful lot of it does get through.
Fortunately, you can read a sample of The Crux Ansata before you buy it and use your own crap filter to decide if you might like it. If you don’t, you can throw crap at me at dandoeden.com.
