Expanded Distribution sales
« on: November 24, 2018, 08:26:11 am »
Nobody has ever been able to tell me where Expanded sales are shown on the KDP Print reports, so I asked Support.

I'm told they appear if you click on the "US CreateSpace" tab in the drop-down menu. I suppose that's weird enough to be true. This is KDP, after all. (I do not have any sales showing there at the moment, while I do have sales showing if I click on October, so I suppose this is possible. On CreateSpace, Expanded sales were generally posted in one gulp late in the month, about the 28th.)

I don't use KDP's ED, so I won't see them in my reports, but I've seen posts where ED sales appear in the graph as "Distribution Paid Units Shipped (Paperback)."

A different colored column showed up on my KDP dashboard today showing 5 "distribution paid units (paperback)". The column was new to me. I guess they don't show up until there's a sale.

Me too!! I had a regular paperback and an expanded distribution sale pop up yesterday. I'm curious where it went, but I guess I'll just be happy that it happened.

Yeah, that's what happened with mine. I moved from CreateSpace at the end of August and had nothing showing for expanded distribution in my KDP account until the end of October. (They were still showing on the CreateSpace site.) When some finally did show up in my KDP account it was a separate colored (red) bar on the dashboard and showed as expanded distribution in the Excel report you can generate.

Yes, as I posted yesterday (not in this old thread), my Expanded sales were credited on December 18, though I didn't actually see them (on the pretty bar graph) until the 20th.

Contrary to what Support told me in November, they don't appear under CreateSpace US, but only (on the classic menu) on the default bar graph. They show up best if you uncheck ebook sales, especially if you have permafree titles that distort the graph.

I haven't looked at the new sales reports. Are they any better in isolating Expanded sales? I don't expect to see any information on WHERE the books were sold, since neither did CreateSpace provide that information.
