« on: January 01, 2019, 10:47:11 am »
Haven't had a chance to look through these yet, but I am at least a bit familiar with Barry Eisler.

- Thriller: The Killer Collective by Barry Eisler
- Family Drama: The Forgotten Hours by Katrin Schumann
- Historical Fiction: The Snow Gypsy by Lindsay Jayne Ashford
- Mystery: Blood for Blood (Ziba MacKenzie Book 1) by Victoria Selman
- Fantasy: Smoke and Summons (Numina Book 1) by Charlie N. Holmberg
- Memoir: Rock Needs River: A Memoir About a Very Open Adoption by Vanessa McGrady

I picked The Snow Gypsy. It is written by the same person  who wrote The women on the Oriental Express and I really liked it.  I thought about Smoke and Summons because it is written by the person who wrote The Paper Magician which I also liked but I think it may become available on kindle unlimited. I havent found a book on first reads in mail nags I liked but this month two  :) .
    Books read in 2010: 43 2011: 42 + the Bible 2012: 60; books read 2013:56*

They'll probably all end up on KU/Prime reading. :) Also they're probalby going to be available as GRgiveaways.

I went for the Mystery. :)

This month's assortment seems to be all dark or dreary or struggling or something.
(even the Fantasy choice -- which I'd had hopes for as I enjoyed her Magician books)
Not even a kid's book to lighten the mood!

Not that I don't already have plenty in my TBR.
    (back to my space-opera/mil-sci-fi sagas!)

one gets 2 this month. I picked the mystery as I do love those. Can't find a 2nd one though, that is ok.

Identical choice this month for First Reads in the UK.

There isn't anything that appeals to me but I'm not unhappy about that, I have more than enough to read. Since the choices always seem to follow a similar trend, I can only asume that somebody - a lot of somebodies, are downloading these books, for Amazon to keep serving up the same stuff every month.

Thanks! I hadn't noticed that. I went for the Historical as my second choice.

I was so busy scrolling down to see what the books were I entirely missed the Giant Banner at the top about getting *2* books.
Naturally this is a month that I can't get interested in even one of them, let alone 2 or even 1+ a maybe. :-)

    This is what I did.
I am still trying to decide if I want a second one.
Incidentally, The Woman on the Orient Express is on sale for $1.99.

I went with the mystery and the thriller.

If we had been limited to only one choice, I probably would've picked The Killer Collective by Barry Eisler.
