Amazon First Reads -- May 2020
« on: May 01, 2020, 05:52:34 am »
Thriller: Don't Make a Sound

Contemporary Fiction: If You Must Know

Legal Thriller: Legacy of Lies

Book Club Fiction: Sorry I Missed You

Historical Fiction: Golden Poppies

Memoir: Your Blue is Not My Blue

Literary Fiction: A Man

Children's: The Refuge

The Thriller, Legal Thriller, and Literary Fiction are possibilites for me. Will wait for the reviews. Alas, still no Cozy or Historical mystery.
My Kindles
Hermoine's Handbag (Voyage)
Ed's (Voyage Refurb)
Bedtime Reading (Oasis 9)
Godric's Hollow (Basic 7)
My Tardis (PW 10)

A couple of different choices in the UK this month though I can't say any of them leap out at me - the Legal Thriller is a possibility so I'll wait on some reviews.

Yeah, historical mysteries don't seem to figure much - and what the heck is 'Book Club Fiction'? Also, for once I'd like to read the blurb for a book where the main character doesn't encounter a situation that reminds them of some traumatic event in their past that they now must face up to.

Exactly my position. Book Club Fiction? ??? And I've totally gone off the 'traumatic past' stuff.

I think it would be fun if they asked for customer recommendations instead of their editor recommendations...

Another underwhelming month, as usual, but I went with the Legal Thriller.

I got a reminder the other day that I hadn't picked one yet. Took a second look, and I think I'm going to pass entirely this month.

    Me too.

The Legal Thriller got a few good reviews but it's that 'dark secret from her past' bit in the blurb that puts me off. There must be books out there that aren't jumping on that particular bandwagon. That and WW2 are becoming an automatic no for me.
