Selena Kitt and Amazon
« on: July 07, 2020, 12:13:59 pm »
Months ago Amazon pulled down all erotica books by best selling author Selena Kitt.
Does anyone know how that dispute was resolved?
Amazon now again lists her erotica.

I duckduckgoed but couldn't find anything. The closest I came was 2010 when amazon first banned incest. Where did you hear about this? :)

On Kitt and any other named/identifiable person, please stick to information that appears in reputable and publicly viewable sources, so we can avoid gossip, hearsay, and so forth. Thanks.

Her website states she was banned for controversial content and links where you can find the "uncut" versions... :o

OK, let's ASSUME that KBoards is a reputable and publicly viewable source.
Several months ago (perhaps a year or so) Selena reported on KBoards that Amazon had invited her to its headquarters.
Since her erotic books were best sellers, she went to Amazon with high hopes.
But she was shocked and embarrassed when told that Amazon was pulling her books.

This episode was reported here and on other web sites (assume they are reputable).

Now I find that her books have returned to Amazon.
But I can not find info on how or when the issue was resolved.

Wow! I missed all of that. I also must not know how to find her site. The only one I know of just lists smutty books for sale. I remember a similar story happening to a different author years and years ago. She got invited to amazon headquarters. She'd been writing PI romance, but then switched to non PI and got popular. Amazon offered her some kind of deal, but while she was on the way they looked and saw her PI and were super rude and yelled at her or something. But she was the one who pulled all her books off amazon in protest. And then I guess amazon lost enough money that they caved and apologized, or something and she was back on.
This Selena story feels like it's 2011, or 2015 again. Selena is a big fish in the porn industry. She has actual films produced from her books. I'm sure she has a lot of contacts that could put pressure on amazon to realize how stupid they were being.
I'll see if I can find any posts she's done on here.
Are you sure you checked the dates and these things happened recently and not in 2015?
Because it did happen back then.

Your question is fine, but in answering it, I'd like people to stick to publicly available info. Thanks.

    Thanks K'Sennia

The year 2015 sounds about right. Or close to it.
There was a big uproar about the situation when it happened. I'm sure Selena's large fan base protested Amazon's treatment of a best selling author.

Yeah...I doubt Amazon can be pressured by anyone with less than 1B that's Billion bucks worth of influence. Even then, they don't seem to care much about certain outspoken billionaires and their tirades.

I haven't seen anything from Selena since she wrote about the above-mentioned issue with Amazon. I can't say anything else since it's info from a private group, which I don't think she's posted to in a while. She's a member here, still, I think, so maybe she'll pop in and update.
