series/subtitle questions regarding book cover
« on: July 21, 2020, 11:59:17 am »
#1) Does the series name (from KDP's Kindle ebook details page) have to go on the book cover?

#2) Does the subtitle have to go on the book cover?

#3) What are the advantages/disadvantages of having the series name or subtitle on the cover?

I've not seen the Terms and conditions for some time, but last time I looked any subtitle has to be on the cover.

Sorry just looked and it doesn't say that. I would put a series name on the cover and any subtitle, but maybe that's just me.

Thanks Declan. I usually put the series name too. Just wondering if it's mandatory.

The series name doesn't need to be on the cover.  I'm not sure about subtitle, but I've done the series name in the book listing but not on the cover to save on space.

Recently I changed my title on Amazon to reflect an alternate title (not really a subtitle) which is not included on the cover. After about a month, Amazon has not had any issues.

No issues either with Kobo or B&N.

    .

Your subtitle provides a marketing advantage to sell your other books in that series.
Subtitles can provide clarification of genre if your basic title and cover image are vague.
