Strange bahaviour. Who understands folk?
« on: October 16, 2020, 06:02:07 am »
On one occasion, I gave away one book on Goodreads and got over 900 people requesting it. I am now giving away 100 copies of the entire series and only got 200 requests. Who understands people?

Of course what I should have done was give away 1 book for the next 100 months! Anyone else experience such oddities?

I'm guessing you mean you had one copy to give away, and 900 people decided to jump for it.

FOMO is a real thing. And as you have learned, it can be used as an effective marketing strategy.

Yup, this. ^ Scarcity makes a thing much more valuable to people.

Thanks both. Never considered scarcity as an issue. Other difference is ebook versus hardcopy.

Never forget the fortuitous. It may be that on a certain day, or number of days, more eyes saw one of the offers over the other.
