I Have A Question That Is Slightly Off Topic
« on: October 28, 2020, 06:50:46 pm »
This question is slightly off-topic but since you guys deal with books, you may be able to help me.

I have invented a magic trick (At least I think It is original; I will have to consult with Magic Historians).

It involves using real books, books that you find in bookstores, on Amazon, and other retailers.

I need numerous copies (e.g. 1000) of a single paperback book for a reasonable price (in order to sell the magic prop).

Does anyone know where I can get numerous heavily discounted copies of a paperback?

Do they all need to be same title and or edition, size etc?

If not, call your local library and offer to make a small donation for any they might have. Larger ones will have boxes upon boxes of them.

A magic trick that involves a thousand books is one I'd pay to see.

If they all need to be the same size, maybe contact the larger publishers and enquire if they've anything suitable that might overwise be pulped.

If it doesn't have to be a particular book, there's bound to be a used book wholesaler out there. Big publishing houses trash their overprints, so you probably can't do much there. But if it's a specific book, try to see if they offer bulk discounts.
