    Hi Tyler:

This is all pretty new to me and I'm not sure which thread you were referring to or how to find it, so I'm hoping this is the right spot. If you get a chance, could you please add "In Search of Lucy?" Thanks, Lia

Hi Harvey.  I used the new link-maker, but it didn't find my book (It's BRAND new on Kindle).  I used the manual one, and it works fine, except the image is not showing up.  It won't show the cover art.   ???
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Worked fine for me, be sure you select Kindle Store on the Linkmaker before you enter your title

You'll have to update your profile with a link to your book that uses the new cover.

FYI, these are the steps to do that:

    1. Go to Link Maker: https://www.kboards.com/link/
    2. Select "Kindle Store" in the pull down menu and search for your book
    3. Click on the book cover in the search results (left side of page); and select the code under "TO MAKE AN IMAGE LINK" on the right side of the page
    4. Edit the signature area of your profile. (Profile > Forum Profile Information, then paste the copied code into the signature block.

Let us know if that works for you.

    I see your avatar. . . . .but it's the old Cries in the Dark cover. . . . .

I have found that you have to click the 'refresh page' button in your browser after you update your avatar.  You'd think closing the browser and re-opening it would work, but it doesn't always.

I tried to use Link Maker to add a book that just went live yesterday, but it comes up on my signature as url code and my signature box says at the bottom, maximum characters 1000, and I had 78 left. But this can't be the issue because there are lots of writers with scores of books in their signature.

Help, please. I'm a dufus at this.

    Thanks.

MH, can you give me the book title you're having trouble with?

Never mind, it's this one, right:

If you used LinkMaker, that code is 151 characters long; the reason it showed as code when you tried to add it was the last 73 characters of code were omitted due to the 1000 charcter limitation. EDIT:  There also seems to be something weird with the end of your existing code that's causing a problem with the link when I add it, let me play with it.

Authors with more covers generally use bit.ly to create shorter URLs to use.  Let me see what I can do.

    MH--

the problem was that you were almost up to your signature max of 1000 characters, and adding the new book put you over.  The new signature was then automatically truncated to 1000, leaving incomplete code.

I looked at your links, and they weren't made with the current version of Link-Maker, which is more efficient, code-wise.  I redid all of them, and you now have 222 characters to spare, including the new book, so you can easily add one more book without resorting to bit.ly to shorten your links!

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm brand new on Kindle Boards and just did the bookcover and title links, but am a little in the dark about what to do with them.  ??? My book is Learning to Lean. I think I understand the text link except that you need to go back to the linkmaker to find the link each time you want to use it. Right?

The signature bookcover picture has me totally confused. This is my first post and I see no place to put it. So I'll put it here. Obviously it worked, whether the right way or not? I'm just not understanding how to keep the links where I can find them and I'm probably not making much sense.

    Mildred--

Welcome to KindleBoards (my sister-in-law's name is Mildred!)!

Good job on making the Link-Maker image.  You don't have to go to link-maker each time you want to use the link.  Unless you need a different size than you used before, you can copy it from a previous post if that's easier.

To add it to your signature, make sure you use the correct size--it can't be more than 125 pixels high.  That the first version on the Link-Maker page.  Then go to "Profile" from the menu bar on any KindleBoards page, select "Forum Profile Signature" from the left, scroll down and you'll see the signature text box.  Paste your cover link there.  Click on "Change Profile" below the box and you're done!  You can also add text if you wish, but be aware that our guidelines call for no more than two lines of text above and below the image.

You can put text to the right of the image using a table format.  There are directions to do so in the Signature sticky topic at the top of Writers' Cafe, or I can help you with that.

Hi Mildred, I am a newbie too and just this morning went through the same headache. all I can say is that no matter what you need just ask. I saw a lot of people saying that when i was trawling the boards for the first time a few days ago but it is true. there are so many friendly people here, and they have all had to start in the same place that we are in. the advice i have received just in the last couple of days has been great.
good luck with your books x

When you mention a book in your posts to this forum, you can provide a link to Amazon's Kindle Store for that book. You can even insert a picture of the bookcover and make that a clickable link to the Kindle Store. It's convenient! And cool!

And we've developed a tool that makes it fairly painless. Better yet, the tool embeds our affiliate info, so that helps keep our site working for you.

Check out our Amazon Link Maker at https://www.kboards.com/link

Thanks for using the Link Maker tool!

Sorry, but that Link Maker can't spell. I search for my book, Animaia, and it finds Animalia. At least this version did: https://www.kboards.com/link. I did use another version, on other Amazon boards I think, and it worked okay.
