I am having trouble following the instructions in the Linkmaker. I have no trouble finding my book in Amazon but I don't see any link button to select on the right side of the screen.

    Marg--

So, you put your book title or ASIN in the search box on the link-maker page, and it shows up on the left side of the link-maker page, right?

Then, click on "Make a Link." on the left.

On the right you should get a series of link code options--a text link, an image link, and two other image links.

Let me know if this helps.

    Hi,
I seem to be destined to announce that I'm here everyday without a link to my book until I get the LinkMaker to work for me! When I used the advanced instructions I couldn't find the 'links' button on the right side of the screen. When I used the manual instructions, I couldn't find a way of saving all my hard work.

    Hi Betsy,

Thank you for coming to my aid.

    Here's my tale of woe:
Using the advanced system: I put the name of my book into the Amazon search book at the top of the linkmaker page. I got into Kathleen's Cariole Ride, and copied the ASIN. I also copied the url for the Amazon page which was showing and put that in where requested. However, I didn't see a 'Make the Link request' either to the left or the right.

Using the manual system: Everything seemed to go right, since I was following the instructions they gave, plus explicit instructions from Pidgeon in this forum discussion. I clicked on all the 'Create' and 'Select' buttons offered. I had succeeded, it seemed. However, I didn't see any button to click on indicating it was saved, and it wasn't so I lost it.

Today I thought I had succeeded again but, in the test place at the bottom, Internet Explorer would not accept the urls from Amazon which I entered as being legitmate. Nothing happened when I clicked on the image box. That's why I'm stuck again!

OK, here's how to make a link using Link-Maker that you can use in posts and your forum profile signature:

    Step 1:

    Step 2:

Be sure to copy the whole text including the IMG tags.

Note that this does not work as your avatar image.

Let me know if this helps.  Or not. :)

    Marg--

re-reading your post, one thing--clicking on "select" only puts the cursor in the box.  You must then manually copy the text.  Sorry for any confusion.  Let me know!

    Kathleen's Cariole Ride

    Hi Betsy,

I think I'm ALMOST there! I followed your instructions, which were incredibly easy and clear. The mistake I had been making all along was to search for my title in the box above the Linkmaker 2.0 headline. It took me directly to the Kindle store's catalog page.

However, I have pasted the new code in at the top of this post and expected my book information to appear but it didn't.

I'll go back and see if I can figure out what I did wrong.

Thanks. You are a tremendous help.

    Marg--

    You're almost there!

Once you've clicked on "Make a link." on the left, there are several options for link code to copy on the right.

The first one "To Make a Text Link" (which you copied) is the text link.  It gives the title of the book as a clickable link.

The second one "To Make an Image Link" is the one to pick to make covers for your signature.

Then there are two other image link codes--one for big images and one for tiny images.  These aren't used as often.  Some authors use the big one in their book threads.

    Let me know!

What if the book can be read on kindle but is on Smashwords? My book is supposed to be in Amazon but they have not published it there yet. Since last year, more than six months ago.

Here is a link that could be used for your book at Smashwords:
    [ url=http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/66762][ img]http://cache.smashwire.com/bookCovers/7b56eb89b787639133bcdbf1ed3a46edf5451914-thumb[/img][/url]

To use it, remove the space after the brackets at the first [ url] and [ img].
Link will then look like this:

If you prefer a text link, then this is the code:
    [ url=http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/66762][ color=blue][ u]The Wizard's Sword[/u][/color][/url]

You will need to remove the space at[ url], [ color=blue] and[ u] for it to work and will look like this:
    The Wizard's Sword

    Hope this helps you.

I'm a contributing author with my name on the front cover, and I would like to add it to my signature line. Can you please help? Thank you!

The old link maker seems to work for it:

(Note: the older, manual version of Link-Maker is available here.) It is also available at the bottom of the regular link maker page.

Hi ... I figured out out to use the link maker pretty quickly for one book - my question is how do I get a link for multiple books ... or do we paste in a separate link for each book?

    Thanks,

Having trouble getting my cover to show. It's there where the "X" is, the link works, but I must have missed a step.

What do I need to do so the cover photo will show?  Thanks.
