When I type in my link to my book on amazon it tells me 'not found', I would love to have a picture of my book up like others when I post but can't seem to find how?

The easist way to do this is by using our author sig tool
    https://www.kboards.com/authorsig/

You need the ASIN.  The most common problem is entering the ASIN incorrectly.  You should copy and paste the ASIN from the Amazon page, either from the URL, or from lower down on the product page--click and drag it.  Sometimes people put the letter O where it should be the number zero.

Alternatively, you can use our link-maker https://www.kboards.com/link to search for your book using your author name or the title of the book.

Both of these tools can also be found under "authors" in our top menu.

Let me know if you are still having problems, DG!

    DG--

I've fixed your signature for you.  I used our linkmaker tool, https://www.kboards.com/link

If you want to try it, here's what I did. I entered your name in the search box at the top of the link-maker page, then chose your book from the list on the left and clicked on "make link."  Then, on the right side, I copied the information on the first image link, following the text link.  Make sure you get everything in the box.  Paste that into your signature and click on Change Profile at the bottom of the page.  (Looks like you've figured it out by your latest post?)

I also added table formatting so that your text would appear on the right side of the cover image as we only allow two lines of text above or below the image.

As for your avatar, make sure that your image isn't too big before trying to upload it.  Any image you upload that is larger than the max (140x160) will be resized and if images are too large, the system software will fail to add the image.  This is the most frequent problem with avatar images.  Aah--looks like you got the avatar straightened out, too!

Let me know if you need any more help.

My link maker has developed a glitch! I can put the title in and get the image, but I can't scroll down to get the links. It's frozen! I've closed it and opened it several times without success. I need help, please.

Link-maker is working well for me....just did this:

Have you tried clearing your cache?  Or doing a refresh--F5?  Or trying a different browser?   Which browser are you using?

When you mention a book in your posts to this forum, you can provide a link to Amazon's Kindle Store for that book. You can even insert a picture of the bookcover and make that a clickable link to the Kindle Store. It's convenient! And cool!

And we've developed a tool that makes it fairly painless. Better yet, the tool embeds our affiliate info, so that helps keep our site working for you.

Check out our Amazon Link Maker at https://www.kboards.com/link

Thanks for using the Link Maker tool!

OK, I tried this too.  Typed in my title & got error message:
"API call did not execute successfully. "

I checked my title is there.  Its Amazon page is up & running, the book is available.

So ... What do I do now?

If you've gotten the code right--Jeff's post just before mine has the code (sounds like you were using Link-maker, in which case the code should have been right), sometimes you just need to submit again--the call to Amazon doesn't go through correctly.

I've never been able to figure out how to post the cover of a book that hasn't been published yet.

The cover for my newest book is finished and I wanted to post it, but there's no way to make a link since it's won't be on Amazon until sometime this summer.

I've seen other writers post potential covers to solicit input on them, so there must be a way to upload jpegs, but I don't know how.

    Help!

    Harriet,

You need to have the image stored online somewhere, like on your website or using a photo storage site like Flickr.  Then you need the direct URL for the image.  Then click on the Image icon, second from the left above the smilies, and paste between the IMG tags.  It'll look like this:  [img]http://www.yourwebsite.com/yourimage.jpg[/img]

Let me know if this helps.

    Hi there, Technological Wizards,

I've successfully used Link-Maker since first using this forum.

However, suddenly I'm unable to access a link for one of my books - Mandrake's Plot - either with Amazon.co.uk or with Amazon.com. It's changed cover recently. Don't know if that makes a difference...

    Kindle:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mandrakes-Plot-Helen-Laycock-ebook/dp/B00JMNM1V2/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1402501765&sr=1-3

    Paperback:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mandrakes-Plot-Helen-Laycock/dp/1497430054/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1402501765&sr=1-3

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Helen

Can someone help me. I go to the Link page, then I find my novel and click on CREATE LINK.
From there I get an option of which link I want, so I click on the image link, but nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? Why can't I get my book to appear in my signature?

The link maker isn't finding several of my novels, specifically Freedom's Sword and A Kingdom's Cost. I haven't tried all the others but it did find two. I'm puzzled. I even double checked to be sure they were live on Amazon.

OK, I think it's the apostrophe...maybe Amazon is using a non-standard apostrophe?  Or something?

I can get the books to come up using your  name ("j r tomlin"), the ASIN for the specific books, or the titles without the 's ("freedom sword" or "kingdom cost").  But not if I include the apostrophe or omit it but keep the s.

I'll pass this on to Harvey...not sure if there's anything to be done, but he'll know. :D    Is it only the ones with an apostrophe that you're having problems with?

I usually use the ASIN that I copy from a link or the product page when doing a link-maker search, as it's the only thing sure to be unique.  Titles aren't always, nor author names. :D  Though sometimes it's easier to use a title.

Hope this helps, JRT, and, as I said, I'll let Harvey know.

For books with apostrophes and such in the title, I've always found the search works better if you leave 'em out. No need for commas or anything like that either.  Just go with words. :)

    Randall,

are you using our signature tool?  You can find it in the top menu under "Authors," or directly here:
    https://www.kboards.com/authorsig

You can add books easily and it will format them correctly and then save the past setup so you can add new books.

Your current sig has one book below the rest of the signature--and our guidelines call for large thumbnails to be on a single row.

Let me know if you need more help.
