Link Maker doesn't seem to recognize me or any of my books.  Is that a common issue authors are having?

I just tried it; searched for "one world novella" and it brought up your book. Or "one world berntson" works as well.

Is there some other particular book it's not finding? Let me know and I can take a look.

(Note: you can also just search on "berntson" and all your books should come up.)

I did Corona of Blue, but it didn't recognize it.  I tried Body of Immorality, too, but that didn't work.  No biggy.

Odd...it finds both of those for me when I enter the title in the search box.

Yeah, it's not working on my end.  It just says no matches found.  I tried exiting out of firefox and trying google chrome, but that doesn't seem to help either.  Must be my computer or something.  Thanks anyway.

Hmm, that's strange and I suspect it's some kind of bug in my code. If you get a chance, could you take a screenshot of the "no results" page and post it? Or email it to [email protected]?

I would guess it is because you hit the enter key between each image, instead of a space or putting them next to one another.

As intinst said, JV, there was a carriage return between your covers which forced them onto the next line.  When adding a new cover, make sure your cursor is on the same line as the final /url] in the prior cover before hitting paste.

Or, use our Author Signature tool, found under "authors" in the top menu.  You can create, save and edit your signature using the tool and it will include your website, blog or Facebook page.

I've noticed the link to online sample in many of the KB books pages is not working. It says 'beta' version so maybe the problem will be solved eventually.

    My questions:

Why does the link work for some but not others?
Is there a schedule for the upgrade to full release of the linking feature?
Is there anything that we authors can do to fix it in our own book listings?

Wow, Betsy. That was a quick response.  :o

Here's a link to my book that does not work:

    https://www.kboards.com/sample/?asin=B015RL35F8

And here's one to the book listed immediately before mine on the KB author book list. This link works and the look inside opens fine:

    Michael,

    thanks for the links.

Our book pages were designed by our site founder, Harvey Chute, who very recently (and way prematurely) passed away.  His family owns the site now and we're going to be talking soon (hopefully next week) about procedures for getting updates to some of Harvey's tools.

The book page tool calls on Amazon's Kindle for Web tool, which apparently was/is in Beta.  Not sure if it's been updated on Amazon's side and we're using an old version.  I'll see what I can find out.  But the fact that some books work and some don't tells me there's something different about the books that don't work since the same tool is being called.

Can you send me a link to another book besides yours so I can try to find some commonality?  (Sorry--I'm also working on getting ready for a art show tomorrow, or I would do more research myself!  Will have more time on Sunday. ;D)

I understand, Betsy. Here are links to more pages that do NOT have Look Inside working. It took a while to find more. It was coincidence that a book near mine on the listings had a similar problem. I had to search a half dozen more pages to find another. The symptom is the same. When the link is made the book content is visible for a second before the error message is displayed. It appears that the link is valid to initiate loading but the pagination is aborted.

This is the error message displayed:

    Error retrieving content

There was an error retrieving the content for
this title or this content may no longer be available.
    Explore other Kindle books

Here are two examples in addition to my book:

    https://www.kboards.com/sample/?asin=1505814545
    https://www.kboards.com/sample/?asin=B00ZOJDRYI

As I searched for more, two books displayed a different Error window that said content unavailable for purchase in the US but also had a button to click to 'continue to content' which successfully opened. A variation on the error type. Here are the links.

    https://www.kboards.com/sample/?asin=B00FOAJ2FU
    https://www.kboards.com/sample/?asin=B004GKMQE8

Hope this helps. Perhaps the structure of my ebook content is a problem for the online sample software? I used an EPUB as the upload document which Amazon converted to mobi. Grasping I know, but today is launch day for my Book Discovery and this will make the book page look incomplete. Thanks for your help.

I'm trying to make a link to my free book promo for THE MAGPIE MASQUERADE (Part 1) but it keeps providing link (and image) to Amazon's description of the book as a series (all 6 parts)  I've tried including Part 1, Part One, with and without parens, but the linkmaker still keeps popping up with only the entire series.
It's only Part 1 that's free -- and today only -- so I'd like to post a link to Part 1, and not the whole series.

    Any suggestions?
FWIW, here's the product/book link to THE MAGPIE MASQUERADE (Part 1) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V02GWN6

THanks for any advice you can offer! :-D

You might try putting the B00V0 or ASIN specific number in the link-maker instead of the title.

Thanks, crebel -- I did try that --  both the entire link [http etc.] and also just the B00V02GWN6 part that's specific to the book. Came up empty on link maker.
Because it was getting late I went ahead and used the link and image to the series.
I've got another promo coming up, though, and it would be nice to be able to promote just the part that is actually going to be free, not the whole series :-D
