People have told me how difficult this is, but I didn't believe them until I tried it myself. I went to Link Maker, entered the book's Amazon URL, got "No matches found". I went to Link Maker 1.0, entered the ASIN and all the little URLs (once I figured out where to find the "image" URL), cover image came out about twenty times larger than it should have.

Any ideas?

Sorry you've been having problems.

First, in Link-Maker, you want to enter an ASIN, or your name or the book's title, not the whole URL. I tried both in the original Linkmaker, and both worked:

Make sure, if you are looking for an ebook, that the selection is "Kindle Store" in the drop down box.

Then, once the book you are searching for comes up in the left pane, click on it to get the link options. For your signature, you'll want to choose the first image link option.

Finally, if you are working on your signature, you may wish to use our author signature tool, found in the top menu under Authors. It automates a lot of the process.

I can't get Linkmaker to work. I'm using a Mac. I'm trying to post the image, but instead of the image, the code is being published on my post.

Sorry, I was traveling with no WiFi and missed your post.

The code you've posted appears to be HTML and is different from the BBC code that linkmaker generates, so there is definitely a problem. I work from my iPad--the linkmaker tool should be device-independent.

The code should looks like this (one of the options available):

[url=http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HVWXNTO/?tag=kbpst-20][img height=125]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51pIgxaH4GL._SL160_.jpg[/img][/url]

and should result in this :

First, let's make sure that you're taking the right steps...

Enter your search term in the Search box. This can be ASIN, your book's title or your author name. ASIN is best as you should get only one result to choose from:

Click on the "Make a link" link to generate the code on the right side.

Click in the box for the code you want--you can choose text, an image 125 pixels high (good for our signatures here), an image 500 pixels high, or a very tiny image. And also a set of flags that go to the various Amazon stores.

I'm having a problem getting one of my covers to come up in the image link maker. All of the others are fine. It's I'm Losing You: Book Four in the Stafford Brothers series.

Sorry for the delay, Chicki--

I've moved your covers so they should all be on the same row. Note that sig size is limited to 140x800 pixels, which means you are limited to nine covers at the standard thumbnail size. I can shrink the covers you have a bit.

For the book you are having trouble displaying, can you send me a link direct to the book?

Lexi, the images are too large. When you use the default size they stretch out farther on the line. If you reduces the size they should all fit.

Also, be sure you haven't used a 'return' vs a 'space' between the last two.

Although I never had any problem in the past, my covers are not showing in my signature. The cover sizes have not changed from before. Also Link-Maker is not working for me. ASIN search returns nothing. I tried both when just cutting and pasting the ASINs didn't work. I have lost my covers and I would really like them back. WIP bars are working fine.

The link-maker has not worked for at least 2 weeks, maybe slightly longer. I don't know if it's an Amazon problem not allowing the connections to be made because of availability of non-digital items, whether Admin has larger problems on their plate because of the world-wide pandemic, or they just don't care about KB as an on-going site.

It's true there's a problem pulling info from Amazon for the automated version. But the old manual version still works. See the italicized note below the search box on the link maker page. The word 'here' is a link to the manual version. All you need is the ASIN for a text link or do a 'copy image location' and enter that for an image link.

"If you have been using Amazon's Product Advertising API (PA API), you must upgrade all of your applications making calls to PA API 4.0 to Amazon's Product Advertising API version 5.0 (PA API 5.0) immediately. As of March 31, 2020, we have completed shut down of PA API 4. After this shutdown, your applications calling PA API 4 will no longer be able to retrieve Amazon product information; and you will receive an error message when your applications make calls to PA API 4.0. Please ignore this message if you have already completed the upgrade or have never used PA API."

I expect management DIDN'T upgrade and that explains why the link maker isn't working. I don't check the page that often -- don't get a lot from the affiliate code I have and don't care that much -- so no idea how long the announcement has been there.
