I've tried the link maker many times and it will only pull up link info to my paperback books?  The other one is clunky and doesn't work very well.  Why won't this link maker pull up the link to my Kindle version?
thanks,
Paul Clayton
The "clunky" one is the only one that works for ebooks because of a change that Amazon made for searching on their site.
It worked fine for me

    Gents, Ladies,

All due respect, Link2.0 can't seem to find my books on Amazon, and the manual Link makes the images HUGE. And stacks them one on top of another.  INteresting, but uses all that digital space

Probably just me.  Screw loose in the driver.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Link 2.0 will not work on books in the Kindle store.  Amazon has turned off this feature. If you resize the  the images by putting [img width=125] the first place it appears in the link they will be appropriately sized. Add a space between images and everything should be OK.
The 2.0 Link Maker is not working because Amazon changed how access is allowed to it's Kindle book database.

Here's a link with a video tutorial that Verena made last November on how to use the Link Maker 1.0. . . .Verena, perhaps you can chime in and/or update it. . . .

    Hello,

Hoping for some help with link maker. I've followed the instructions, but the image link I'm getting just creates a small red X where my image should be. Here's the image link:

What I immediately noticed was missing is the .jpg extension; should all image files have a .jpg extension? Can anyone tell me where I might going wrong with link maker? Thanks.

It should start with the url tags and enclose the tagged image, which is indeed a JPEG file in this case. Here's the code:

    Code: [Select]
    [url=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TFEMBQ?ie=UTF8&tag=kbpst-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003TFEMBQ][img]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51eIGT5tx6L._SL500_AA266_PIkin2,BottomRight,-16,34_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg[/img][/url]
    Here's how it looks:

You are choosing the wrong picture link. How you choose depends on your browser....

-- If you are using Firefox, it is very easy: right-click on any picture and choose Copy Image Location.

-- If you are using Safari, it is very easy: right-click on any picture and choose Copy Image Address.

-- If you are using Internet Explorer, right-click on any picture and choose Properties, then you must choose and copy the entire Address, which may take up several lines which you cannot see. It is imperative that you choose the entire Address, or your picture will not appear.

Hello, If someone reads this please reply to [email protected]   I'll never find it if you "post" an answer. I have 4 times tried using the link maker. Finally I learned how to do it, but when I post it's not there. After 4 hours, I'm screaming PLEASE HELP.  The rest of the site I honestly have no idea where I am. I'm just trying to make my book known and to have conversation about any topic. I hope someone will answer because I have no idea what I'm doing. It's a fantastic looking site and I wish I could use it.
    Thank you.

    Intinst or others,

Great suggestions! Changing the open image tag to [img width=125] fixed the huge image problem, but the images still stack vertically.  Not sure how to introduce the HTML required for the horizontal arrangement.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Try putting a space between the links.

    Intinst,

Thanks for the quick response. This is with the space.  Doesn't seem to work. And doesn't work with a break tag either
But somebody on the boards is doing it right.

You have a carriage return after the first book. Remove it and use only a space instead.

    Intinst,

Thanks for the suggestion.  Indeed I did have a carriage return.  So this should work.

Another question, somewhat of a detail, but the images show white space left and right, but I assume this is white background inserted by Amazon into the cover jpegs and therefore nothing can be done about it.

Thanks for the steer on the sizing and placement of images, though.

I already have a link to my novel in Kindle, but I changed my book cover. The link on kindle boards shows my old cover, the chimp. If I pull up the link I get my new cover on Amazon. All I want to do is exchange the chimp for the building. I have tried starting from scratch and almost got it. I got as far as the preview with the new cover. Then lost it. Any ideas, please?

I'm sure this info is somewhere in the thread but haven't found it  :-\  I've just figured out how to add additional images/books to my sig-line but as you see, they're in a vertical line. What code do I need to add to make it horizontal?

Please & thanks!  Uh....duh! just found the answer, never mind. Will work on this. *s*

Two questions after reading this thread and trying my new links with images.  First, the framed box that holds our signature block (in our profile page) will not "hold" steady when I scroll down to the bottom to adjust the img to make it smaller.  I pull down the scroll bar and it "jumps" back up to half way.  Any remedy?

Second, I notice that several people have eight or nine images displayed in their signature block.  How did they overcome the 1,000 character limit set in the signature block box?  I cannot get more than three images to appear.  Thanks to everyone.

This seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer more than any other browser. I use Safari, and you can actually make the posting fields larger by dragging the bottom/right corner.

Second, I notice that several people have eight or nine images displayed in their signature block.  How did they overcome the 1,000 character limit set in the signature block box?  I cannot get more than three images to appear.  Thanks to everyone.

Some authors create a single image (with image editing software) that has each of their covers in it. Others use URL shorteners like bit.ly to shorten the number of characters in the URLs.

Can someone check whether I have this right with a manual creation of the link, so as to get the Kindleboard's codes:

    Code: [Select]
    [url=http://www.amazon.com/Lyonesse-Suldruns-Garden-ebook/dp/B000FA5RGM?ie=UTF8&tag=kbpst-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000FA5RGM][img]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21bmTJyihpL._SL500_AA266_PIkin2,BottomRight,-5,34_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg[/img][/url]

    I added
    Code: [Select]
    ?ie=UTF8&tag=kbpst-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=
after the ASIN in the URL, then added the ASIN again after the =

I assume the numbers 1789 and 390957 are unique to Kindleboards???
