Hello there,

If you like car chases, humour, quirky characters, a hint of romance and a nice simple battle between good and evil you might enjoy Few Are Chosen, the first instalment of The K'Barthan Trilogy which is free, everywhere forever.

It's is a humorous fantasy about a lad with eyes in the back of his head who becomes a getaway driver. It has an Awesome Indies Seal of Approval, and so far, all the reviews have been positive on both Amazons with only one below 4 stars.

Here's the blurb:
Charming outlaw with own transport and limited social skills seeks lucrative, employment at minimal risk.

When you're running from a murderous government and work for an equally murderous gangster, accidentally torching his apartment is a bad move.

The Pan of Hamgee just wants a quiet life but destiny has other plans.

Here's what some people have said about it. In the interests of fairness I've restricted my choice of quotes to people I don't actually know:

"Fantasy is not normally a favourite genre of mine, as I can find it hard to suspend disbelief.  However, I did not have this problem with this book.  It's packed with humour and action, and held my attention throughout. ...Recommended, especially to fans of fantasy, but also to those who might usually avoid it." - Between The Pages (http://thebooknutsblog.wordpress.com/2010/11/15/few-are-chosen-by-m-t-hamgee/)

"The Pan is one of the most interesting characters I've encountered in speculative fiction in recent years." Francis Porretto (on the book's Smashwords page, here http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/24556)

"Filled with a host of brilliant characters from various wonderfully weird races, none of the different personalities introduced fail to fascinate." (http://www.thebookbag.co.uk/reviews/index.php?title=K%27Barthan_Trilogy:_Few_Are_Chosen_by_M_T_McGuire)

If you decide to have a look at it, I hope you enjoy reading.

You should be able to find it on your local Amazon here: FewAreChosen

Cheers

Welcome to KindleBoards, MT, and congratulations on your book.

(If you've gotten this welcome before, it's just as a matter of housekeeping. We like to put a copy of the "welcome letter" in each book thread.  It doesn't mean you've done anything wrong, it just helps us know that you know the rules.)

A brief recap of our rules follows:

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here.

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it; we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information.  You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--You are encouraged to respond to member comments and questions, but remember that you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days.  Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link.  Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar; specifically, this means that you may not suggest your OWN book in Book Corner threads. :)  Our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows.  This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles!  Also, please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post.

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum.  Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

Oh, and one more thing:  be sure to check out the index threads at the top of the Book Bazaar. . . .there are details there about how you can be listed so that our readers can find you.  And there are threads at the top of the Writer's Cafe with further information on promotional opportunities here at KindleBoards

Thanks for being part of our little community!  Feel free to send us a PM if you have any questions.

@MTM - I love humorous fantasy, but your link for Amazon US is dead. Your book sounds like something I'd like, so I'll check it out after you fix it. Thanks.

EDIT: the link in your post is broken, but the picture link in your sig worked. I'm checking it out now.

    Hey Manley

Thanks for the heads up, I'd missed out a space! It's all sorted now. Ignore the no price information thing - it will cost 99c plus whatever they put on top for downloading it. I downloaded a sample of yours a couple of days ago and I'm looking forward to reading it.

    Cheers

    Hello everyone

Just a quick not to let you know that I'll be holding the super-cheap 99c price for Few Are Chosen for one more week and then it will go back up to $2.99.

HOWEVER... I hope to ameliorate the impact on your wallets by providing a free tie in e-short for your delictation.

Featuring characters from Few Are Chosen, Unlucky Dip is available in pretty much any format you like at Smashwords http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/37437 and Feedbooks http://www.feedbooks.com/userbook/18031/unlucky-dip. If I can work out whether or not I'm allowed to do freebies and if I am, how to go about it, I'll also put it on the Amazon kindle store for you. As usual, the PDF version will be up on my website, as well.

Obviously, I'm hoping you all enjoy reading it so much that you rush over to Amazon and download Few Are Chosen but that's not obligatory - just my fervant wish.

    All the best for '11

    Cheers

    Hello,

Yes, I've finally stopped messing about with the price of Few Are Chosen.

The price is now: 1.50p plus VAT on Amazon.co.uk here http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004ASOS6A and $3.00 on Amazon.com here http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004ASOS6A So far all the reviews have been positive with nothing on either Amazon below 4 stars.

If you don't want to shell out all that cash you can always go to my website, www.hamgee.co.uk where you can download the full novel, in pdf format for free. Yep. Nothing to pay.

You can also buy signed dead tree copies on the website, too for 9.99 plus P&P.

    Cheers

I'm thinking of changing the cover of Few Are Chosen. If any of you have a moment I'd love to know what you think. If you are interested, you can find the 3 alternatives here http://hamgee.co.uk/blog/cover-story/.

The winning cover was one of the hand drawn ones, I'm experimenting with using it for the e-book.

Another kind soul has done an author interview which you can find here... Once again, there's lots of far more interesting stuff on the blog so do go and have a look.

Just blowing the cobwebs off this thread to report this:

Few Are Chosen has been listed on awesome indies. Trust me, this is a very big deal because it means that a group of people with professional qualifications in creative writing think my book is pretty indistinguishable in quality from something put out by the big six...

How smug do I feel VERY smug! ;-)

Anyone who wants to see, feel free to follow the link. I'm afraid you'll have to disable ad-block, if you're a firefox user. Just click on show add-on bar and you can alter it to let you see things on a specific page from there.

    Here's the link: http://awesomeindies.wordpress.com/2012/10/06/new-additions-young-adult-fantasy-humorous-fantasy-a-supernatural-thriller/

    Yeeeehah!

    New updates...

Few Are Chosen has been awarded the Awesome Indies Seal of approval, ALL the details are on my blog here http://mtmcguire.co.uk/2013/04/06/awesome-indies-award-seal-of-approval-to-few-are-chosen/

I also see that I never posted after it hit the shortlist for the Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards. I am delighted to say that it came third in its category.... last year - not that I'm tardy about updating this or anything.
