Title: Book in Which Criminal Copies Crimes in a Novel
Post by: TromboneAl on July 31, 2020, 07:26:10 pm
I'm looking for any books (or movies) in which a criminal copies the crimes described in a thriller (novel or movie).

Know of any books like that?

Thanks.

There was an episode of Castle (TV show) that echoed the Strangers on a Train plot; Castle even said he preferred the novel to the movie (or something like that).

Hmmm. I've seen it done several times on TV shows ... Castle, as noted, also Murder She Wrote. And a couple of others that come to mind: an episode of Mystery Woman (on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries from the mid 2000s) and Aurora Teagarden Mysteries also on Hallmark M&M. She's a librarian and there's a 'real murders' club. Pretty sure there are book series for both of those. Might have been an episode of Garage Sale Mysteries as well on the same channel. (I say 'episode' but when Hallmark makes a series each 'episode' is pretty much a full length TV movie.)

I can't recall off hand any books like that, but will have a think on it. I'm pretty sure I've read some, the titles just aren't coming to  mind.

One of JD Robb's In Death series has that type of plot as well. I can't remember the title - need to go back and look.

Oh yes! I actually just read that earlier this year. Really enjoyed it.  Here's my review on GoodReads:
