Writers' Cafe / Re: Beware of Amazon Advertising's Lockscreen ads.

Don't listen to what anyone else here says, including me  :o

Run your own adds, and see if they work for you

That's true. I've read a lot of different stories about ads. What works for one person doesn't work for the other, so ... It's trial and error basicaly.

Amazon is not the enemy. But it's taking a good chunk of the revenues. So I believe we're entitled to express our opinions.

My "best" ad spent 100$ and generated only 2 sales at 457 clicks (328 DPV). It has happened before and I had to kill the ad. Before you say it - my cover and blurb are fine.

I agree that product display ads functioned better.

Amazon is getting a lot of money from us, but it's also losing advertisers.

My total is actually lower than it's supposed to be ... AMS support is mostly bots. I tried to resolve a problem once and failed.

I would cancel the problematic ads, especially if they don't generate sales, and make new ones.

Writers' Cafe / Re: What do you think? Yet another Blurb
« on: August 01, 2018, 03:47:35 am »
I kind of like it. It still needs some work though. I don't know what the story is about, but here's the polished version of your blurb. Maybe it's better, maybe it's not ... in any case you have to convince the reader that your book is worth reading.

All my life I've done exactly what was expected of me. I graduated with a perfect GPA and enrolled in a college of my choice. I've been working the same job since. It's a great job with decent benefits. I work six days a week, but I don't mind. I like living in a carefully curated box. Or so it seemed. I never imagined a pint of triple chocolate ice cream and an infomercial could turn my world upside down.

The original cover is not bad, but it can confuse the reader if browsing just the covers. At first glance I thought it is a boxed set.

Change the blurb. Make it more intriguing. I like short(er) blurbs that make me want to read the book immediately. I don't want to know to much about the plot. But that's me. There are all kind of readers out there and there are many triggers that can convince a reader to buy your book. That being said, the cover and the blurb are still the most important, especially if you're a relatively unknown author.

Before/after tax. My book is 2.99 but after tax it's 3.65.

I received an e-mail years ago by a "fan" who told me that I should give up. That I'm not a writer. That I'm just posing as one. Today I have six published books and three of them are bestsellers in Slovenia. It doesn't matter what other people think. If you believe in yourself good things will come.

There's a great ebook called 'Help, My Facebook ads suck!'. It's only about $5 and mine paid for itself in about an hour.

I have it! I guess I'll have to read it again  :D

Congratulations and good luck with your books! I will check them out.

Writers' Cafe / Re: Do you have a favorite book you've written?
« on: June 20, 2018, 01:35:44 am »
The best book I've writen so far is 720 Heartbeats, but my book that I love the most is Dandy Dildo. When I was writing it, I was totally depressed. So it kind of saved my life. I'm still wondering how I managed to write a funny love story while I was fighting my inner demons. Unfortunately it's available only in Slovene, but I'm thinking about translating it.

I'll be honest, my cpc is around 15-17c at the moment.  A month ago it was 0.08-0.12, but I'm saturating the audience a bit too much.

I can only wish for a CPC like that. At the moment it's 0.46 for UK ad and 0.71 for CA. I spent 25 and got one sale out of it.

I didn't have your kind of problem, but I noticed that they CPC went way up. I made an AD for Australian readers yesterday. When I checked the stats this morning, there were 2 link clicks at a charge of 2.60! So they charge 1.30 per click! Very hard to sell a $2.99 book with profit at this cost  :)

No, they don't. It will still be available for sale but with the original description.

Even if it's an e-book?

Writers' Cafe / Changing book description
« on: June 15, 2018, 01:44:42 am »
Hi, everybody! I'm publising my first book on Amazon this weekend and I have a simple question. If I change the book description (and/or keywords) once the book is live, does Amazon stop the sale of the book, while they review changes?

Thanks for your help!

Congrats and good luck with your future sales!

My new book doesn't have people on them. All the previous ones do. Here are both covers (Slovene and international)
