Like many others, I tend to use Google more than anything else. It's just faster for me to type in "amazon genre" or "amazon best selling genre."

It's even worse if you want to look at the recent releases. That one still trips me up sometimes.

I was thinking the same thing as Paranormal Kitty. These 'resellers' post your book, but will only buy a copy to dropship if/when it sells.

It isn't anything to worry about, really. No one is getting copies illegally. They're just posting the book in hopes of making a sale. If they do, they order from CS (I'm pretty sure) and put in the buyer's shipping address.

If you have 25 minutes to spare, you can use It's a timer that goes off after 25 minutes and gives you a 5 minute break as well as a way to log your words. This is what I use when I really need to get words down but my perfectionism is getting in the way.

On the subject of Smashwords, if you have Scrivener, all you need to do is compile as a .doc. Then, open it in word and actually save it as a .doc (since Scrivener saves it as an RTF for some reason).

Compiling like this gets you through the meatgrinder and is very easy. I suggest using Smashwords and D2D. Smash has their own store and I get sales without any promo over there (not consistent, but every few days). They also have their summer sale starting July 1st. So now's a great time to start using them.

I see ranks on both of them on the US store. Not sure if it helps, but I'm using Chrome. Maybe there was a tiny kink in the works or one of the hamsters needed a break. You know, the usual glitchiness of Amazon.

Oh gosh, that sounds frustrating. Were you ever able to get it figured out? Or did you resort to using the next page?

Print formatting is tough.

Oh, I thought we were talking about the start of a chapter after another one.

If it's regarding the placement of the first chapter in a book, then I totally feel it should be on the right. When I open a book, it's the first side I usually look on.

I never actually considered this before since my print formats usually go something like this:

title page (right)
copyright (left)
TOC (right)
then on the left either the toc continued or a dedication
First chapter (right)

I don't think I've ever read a book where the first chapter starts on the left. Of course, there are a lot of books out there and I don't really read print anymore.

Sorry if I was confused by the topic.

I feel like leaving a blank page on the left just to have the next chapter start on the right would be a waste of space and materials. I've always started my chapters on whatever page happens after the chapter break.

It isn't something I've paid much attention to. The more important details to work on are the widows and orphans.

I'd heard mention of this being the case before, but I always thought it was speculation. Nice to see a straight answer, or as straight as we can expect coming from Amazon.

I think you can have both under the same name so long as the erotica isn't far from what you're focusing on in romance (nothing too crazy if you're working on vanilla romances, basically).

As for the pen names, you can have three to each author central account. You can make as many of those accounts as you like, but as stated above, you can only have one KDP (publishing) account.

Number nine is very good. I can't think of much use for the other ones just yet, but I'm really new to indie promos, so maybe I'll understand some of them better in the future.

Thanks so much for sharing the link.

I actually just finished season 3 of Troll Hunters. I'm sad in knowing we'll never get a fourth, but I loved the show while it lasted.

The Book Corner / Re: The book you read within a day

I've read a lot of books in a single day. However, the first one I remember reading all the way through was The Black Gryphon by Mercedes Lackey. This was ages ago. I still read that book at least once a year.

Sadly, the rest of the trilogy felt terribly forced to me, so I don't tend to read the other ones.
