I borrowed my first one in December and it was Hunger Games.  I purchased the 2nd one and am waiting for 1/1 so I can get the 3rd, unless I decide to purchase it tonight.   ;D

Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod...) / Re: Question about Cloud backups
« on: December 19, 2011, 09:21:58 pm »
I do have them registered to the same account but I am getting their contacts and calendar notes.  So tell me this, how do we share music without getting all of their other stuff? It is driving me insane!!  I really don't want my 15 year old son's 4000 contacts! Ok so I am exaggerating a little.  ::)

I have turned off contacts in the cloud and I am no longer getting them.   But if something happens to the other phones, are their contacts gone?

Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod...) / Question about Cloud backups

I have 3 iphones on my itunes account.  How can we back up each phone without mixing contacts, etc.? Can we each have a different cloud account and still be able to use the same itunes library?  Apparently, I have it set up wrong since I am getting their contacts and some of mine are missing.  I am so confused, so spell it out for me. Thanks!!

I live in a rural area and the closest book store is over 30 minutes away.  I typically read books that are in a series and I was always making trips to the bookstore for the next book.  Half of the time, the book I was looking for wasn't available.  There were numerous times that I made a trip for nothing.  So when I realized I could order books from home it was a no brainer.  It saved me money, time, and wear on my car.  At first, the whisper net didn't work at my house and I would have to ride to the end of my driveway (1/2 mile) to download a book but that changed with the K2.  I wouldn't trade my K for anything and neither would my non-reader husband (he now gets to watch more uninterrupted TV).

I have the iPhone 4 but I wouldn't put it in any other case.  I have 5 & 6 year old boys that love to play with my phone.  Needless to say they drop it (on hardwood floors) constantly and it doesn't have a scratch on it.  I have been amazed at how well it is holding up!  So much so that my boys are getting iPod touches for Christmas and they will be in otterboxes.

Not Quite Kindle / Re: Taking Names for Breast Cancer Walk T-shirt

My cousins (they were sisters)  Tina Hood - she lost the battle and her sister Tammy Hood-Carwyle - she has been cancer free for some time now.  Also, a male cousin won the battle, his name is Dale Hill.  (Males can get breast cancer too!  Many people don't know that and I didn't until he began his battle)

My 4 year old cousin is currently fighting the fight (since late March) and winning!  She doesn't have breast cancer but had several tumors through out her body.  Thankfully they are all gone and she only has cancer cells at this point.  She just returned to St. Judes in Memphis in the last week or two for follow up treatments.  Please say a prayer for her, her name is Ashley Miller.

Thank You for remembering all of the folks fighting the good fight and for remembering those that lost the battle!!!

I ordered 2 ipod touches and an ipad last week.  I got a call yesterday from Apple explaining how sorry they were that my ipods were mistakenly shipped without the new software and explained how to update.  I was very surprised to receive them today (tracking info said they would be here Thurs) so I am looking forward to updating them tomorrow.

Thank you so much for the recommendations.  You gave me a lot to think about and HC, you might be right.  I have the otterbox on my iphone 4 because I am accident prone.  I am seriously considering the otterbox now because I can see him dropping it from the tree.  Thanks for pointing that out!!

Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod...) / Ipad 2 cover recommendations
« on: October 07, 2011, 05:25:15 am »
I finally pulled the trigger on an ipad 2.  This is for my hubby for Christmas.  I am looking for the perfect cover for him.  I only want to buy one so I need to get this right the first time.  He will use the ipad in his Tahoe at work (police officer), in the tree stand while deer hunting, and at home.  He will use it primarily sitting in his lap.  I am leaning toward the apple cover but I am wondering if that is enough protection?  I could use that cover and drop it in a sleeve?  I guess what I am asking if you could only buy one cover what would it be?

Did you call Kindle customer service?  Even though your K2 is probably out of warranty, they may well offer you a credit towards a replacement.

I did.  They offered me a refurb k2 for $40.  I decided it was best to just go ahead and get the baby K.  I am one that doesn't use the keyboard or speakers.

I have to!   My K2 died suddenly, shortly after the Baby K came out.  I am not sure what really happened except I was reading, put it to sleep and cooked dinner.  Came back to read again and there were lines all across the screen.  Guess I will have to quit cookng dinner ;)

Not Quite Kindle / Re: Can anyone recommend a favorite floor cleaner?
« on: April 20, 2011, 02:49:59 pm »
We used to have really dark bamboo floors and everything left a film on them.  I found Weiman floor cleaner.  It cleans really well and then I used their floor polish afterwards.  The polish left the floor super shiny and pretty, made them look new.  I was so upset when Walmart quit carrying it.  Then we had a small fire and the insurance replaced the floors with new handscraped oak, now I don't have the left behind film issue.  Now i use Mr. Clean lavendar scented cleaner and love the smell.

Not Quite Kindle / Re: What's Your Ringtone?
« on: April 20, 2011, 02:26:21 pm »
My general ringtone is Let Me Down Easy by Billy Currington.  It was supposed to be DH's ringtone but couldn't decide what to use for general so I am just using this.  Two of my sons are HUGE baseball players (the other two are too small for a phone) so their ringtone is Centerfield by John Fogarty (The part that says "Put me in coach I am ready to at me I can be centerfield!"  This might inspire me to finally find a general ringtone.

My DH is a police officer so I get calls like, "What should I do when..."   Or "Can he check to see if I have a warrant?"  Or my favorite, "If y'all come to the (insert family function here) and I still have this warrant will he have to arrest me?"  ::)  I have a lovely family!  ;D

Well my ex wanted to name our twin boys after Bill Elliott and since I am/was a Dale Earnhardt fan that didn't fly.   So we ended up with Daniel Hunter and Marcus Tyler since ex's name was Danny Marcus.  Each go by middle names.

As for my two little boys I wanted one to be Jackson Riley but DH hated it.  So we ended up with Landon Sawyer. At one point we had considered naming him Casen but DH arrested a lady that had just had a new baby (possesion of meth) and that was her baby's name.  I couldn't get past the negative emotions that created for me so we scrapped that one.   For the other child, we only had one option and never really considered another name his is John Lawson.  *All four go by their middle names and each has a family name as their first name except Sawyer and Sawyer was my grandmother's brother's nickname (He was killed in an car accident before I was born)*

Since we had no girls, I had tons of them that I never got to use with my favorite being Brynlie Skye.
