I also got mine from BB and it is the WiFi SO version. Mine haven't shown up either, but I don't care if they don't.

Love my Voyage but am picking up the new PW for a backup and to carry in my purse/backpack. The Voyage will be my at home reader.

I have ereaders from all different companies. I have multiple Kindles, Nooks , a Kobo. What makes me use the Kindles more than any of them is the Amazon store, and their customer service. The Kindles themselves are great hardware. Sturdy too. My K1 still works!

I feel like the Nooks are a good product, but I have ran into several issues with hardware and customer service. The prices were always a little bit higher than Amazon, but that at least seems not to be the case as much anymore.

The Kobos tend to be a little bit glitchy and the response time of CS is abysmal.

Love my LittleFire. I have a cover coming Monday. I love the size, small enough to be very portable but not so small that it's unuseable. I  think I made the right decision to go with black. I can always add color via skins and cases anyway.

Reading on ot is great and the size works well for games too. I haven't watched videos on it yet.

Me!! I went with the black, because I usually dress up my ereaders with covers and skins anyway. Should be here tomorrow.

I have been using my HDX more often. I go through stretches where I read on the Paperwhite more and stretches where I use my Fire primarily. I  also use my Fire as a tablet.

August 29th, 2008. I bought several books that day. The Kindle wasn't my first ereader though. I had a Sony 500 before that and before the Sony I read a couple of books on my Palm Pilot, lol.

$29.47 here..spent already too. :D

Anybody out there have both a Fire and a Paperwhite?  I'm working on building a case to do just that...
Me..but I need little incentive to acquire gadgets. :D They do both get used though..the Fire more so for school or as a general time killer. The PW is for heavy reading sessions and you can't beat the battery life.

Fire Talk / Re: For limited use only - 7 HD 2013 vs. 7 HDX
« on: January 07, 2014, 10:38:49 am »
I say 7 HDX. I was going to upgrade my ipad mini and instead went with the Hdx with 4g. Still was $200 cheaper. I have lots of apps and content across both platforms so it worked for me. The browser on the HDX is quick, and I love the screen. I read on mine though.

Fire Talk / Re: Anybody with 4G, is it worth it for you?
« on: January 04, 2014, 11:04:38 pm »
I just got an HDX today. I set up the 4g on the device and it worked fine. I went to settings, mobile network. Turned that on, and it brought me to a Verizon page where I chose what option I wanted and set up payment.

There is the option to add the HDX to an existing Verizon account or set up a new account. I set up a new one.

I like it. Adds a little social aspect.

Fire Talk / Happy Father's Day!

Bought my dad a Kindle Fire for Fathers Day. I'm hoping he will like it. I've already registered it and loaded it with some goodies( bought a gift card too).

Hope all the dads out there have a great day!

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: To 3G or Not 3G - that is the question
« on: January 28, 2013, 12:29:51 pm »
I always used to buy the 3G version because while I had WiFi at home, it was sometimes hard to find it in public.

My PW is WiFi only though, because there are more hotspots, plus I can tether it to my iphone if needed. I haven't missed the 3G once.

I like Fruit Ninja..I had that one on my 1st generation KF. I've been liking Office Zombie lately. The only issue is it can be a little glitchy. You throw various objects at a zombie sitting at his desk. There are different goals to check off. It's cute.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Quick Report on Current Paperwhite Batch
« on: November 08, 2012, 09:55:58 pm »
I just got mine on Wednesday. I had canceled my first two orders. Mine has slight shadows where the LEDs are but no blotches.

I'm glad I gave it a shot. I like this Kindle a lot. Ranks right up there with the K3( IMO the best Kindle ever).

Just thought I would update you that the delivery date is now November 9th over a month earlier than the expected date and the 5-7 weeks.  I hope it isn't a returned one that they are recycling to us.   ???    On the Amazon site now it lists In Stock on December 19th.
After canceling two orders, I decided to give the PW a try. My original ship date was 11/29 to 12/10. I got my PW today. I was also concerned that it would be a returned one but my screen is very good. Some light cone shadows at the bottom, which was expected but no color blotches or fuzzy text.

I'm very pleased.

you are going to have to trust me on this but try a regular 69 kindle has a very white screen & nice dark text... this reader should not be confused with last years, this years has a black bezel & newer screen, just a suggestion , I do want a PW but I want to see it fixed first...
This is what I decided to go with after I canceled both PW orders. The new basic Kindle has a great screen. I have it in a lighted case that I got for $18 but I also use the KF HD for most of my in the dark reading.

Toss up between the KK and the basic Kindle for me as far as eink is concerned.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Are you happy with your Paperwhite Screen?
« on: October 13, 2012, 11:53:44 am »
I decided to cancel my second PW order after reading about the screen issues. I recently bought a KF HD and a K4B so I'm good as far as new toys for a while. I think I'll let Amazon work out all the PW bugs and maybe get the PW2 eventually.

Plus, I'm not a huge fan of touch only of the things I like about my Nook is that it has the ability to use the buttons or the touch screen.

I'm sorry, I must disagree with you. My iPad has virtually replaced my laptop and I can't imagine being without it.
I disagree also. My iPad gets used much more than my laptop- it's paid for itself many times over. Add a Bluetooth keyboard to the iPad, and it's darn near perfect.

But, I'm still anxiously awaiting my PW all the same...most of my reading is done with e-ink.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Kindle Paperwhite or 3G
« on: September 29, 2012, 11:02:11 am »
I'm an ebook hoarder. So, I have already downloaded plenty of books onto my K4 in case there isn't wifi. But, I can also tether the Kindle to my iPhone. So, I'd be all set anyway.

I ordered the Paperwhite 3G but canceled that and reordered the WiFi only Paperwhite instead. Pushed my date back though!  :'(
