Thanks! I guess at this point we just have to wait and see. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Yes, i've read the info on their website again and it says that it is not currently available for the apps you mention. But if they are going to do it within a few months that will be good.

So they freely admit that it doesn't work with K4PC at present.

Well it still depends on how you understand it. I thought that once i downloaded them to my kindle and pulled them up on K4PC that would be different. i understand that i can't download and sync directly with K4PC.  But my files on my computer would naturally be understood to transfer from K4PC to Kindle.

Despite several complaints they did not say that the feature was coming. I think online it does say that it is not available yet. I don't know if that means they are in the process or it is just not available.

If you have a personal document, even with the 3.3 Upgrade, there appears to be no way to get Kindle to read your annotations created on K4PC. One Amazon employee told me it would work, but it doesn't appear to be true. The Sync only works for annotation done Kindle to Amazon to Kindle. You cannot download personal documents to K4PC. You also can't sync these document to K4PC once they are downloaded to K3.  Amazon's advertisement is a bit misleading and not thorough.

In my opinion, Amazon simplely did the 3.3 Update because they are thinking lots of people might buy the new kindle and want to transfer their personal documents without a lot of effort.  I guess the only hope we have is that more people use notes and start complaining about the lack of features.

I heard that you can do a one-way transport from Kindle directly into the KindleContents folder in MyDocuments.  If you do that, you can view the highlights and notes. But not the other way around. Any changes will be lost!  (I've not tried this to verify just yet.)

The only work around I can think of is to open a store and try to sell your documents to yourself for free. Then you get all Amazon features. (I've not tried this yet. But i will.)

I didn't ask Amazon about moving files!  But i called them adn they said nothing can be done. I'm still going to try to move the files. But that is why i was wondering if anyone has really tried this before. It makes sense logically but that doesn't mean it works.

A book that I got from a third party that is DRM-free that was annotated on K4PC can really be viewed with annotations on the Kindle3?  What i did was drag and drop the MBP file onto my Kindle. I should have done both the book.Mobi and the MBP. the MBP file replaced the one that was on the K3 previously, but I still can't view the notes. So the File SHOULD HAVE the EXACT SAME NAME as the one previously on my Kindle, but it is not working.

I'm going to try it again when I get home. I don't understand exactly, the book was updating to furthest page read on K4PC yesterday without my sending it to Kindle.

If this doesnt work, i'm going to start worrying about being Kindle dependent! What will happen years from now when things change?

You are exactly right, Morf. I thought about that, but since i was able to see other MBP files elsewhere, i assumed it must not be hidden.  So I've learned.

After contacting Amazon, I wasn't offered this solution. They suggested that I download the 3.3 upgrade. Now that I did that, my K4PC automatically updates all my personal documents.  But it hasn't updated the ones directly on my Kindle.

Well i won't matter thanks Morf, I will just drag and drop the MBP file into my Kindle documents folder.

Looking at Amazon's website I found this additional information:
Personal documents sent to any of your Kindle devices are automatically stored in your Kindle library. You can view and download your archived personal documents to your Kindle device conveniently anywhere, at any time. Retrieving archived personal documents is currently only supported on Kindle Keyboard, Kindle and Kindle Touch.

Personal document archiving is enabled by default in your Kindle library. Once archived, your personal documents will continue to be stored in your Kindle library until you delete them.

What i figure from this is that I need to re-email all my personal books and documents to my account and change my annotation settings to ON. Just changing the setting by itself didn't do anything.  So i guess i have to re-send them via email.

Betsy, thanks! The document was DRM free. It was free ebook. (I realize that's not equivocal but that is what i meant) By clean i meant all my notes and highlights were missing. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, I'm working with Kindle4PC and I'm trying to move my book back onto my Kindle. I did not buy the book from Amazon. It was a freebie. But i want to carry my notes with me.  Right now all my notes and highlights in this book are stuck on my PC. When i copy the book over to Kindle, I can't view anything. it is a clean book.

I used K4PC because it is easier for cut and pasting. It is also easier to type. So i did everything on my desktop hoping to be able to view it on my Kindle.

It may be that Windows7's search engine is horrible. I couldn't find a book on my desktop by searching through MyComputer. I had to search my desktop--basically identifying where the book was. Lots of help!

Ok, i have a book.MOBI that i've been adding notes to. But i can't find the MBP file anywhere.  I've looked in Kindle Content folder and I don't see i there either.

Any suggestions? I've loaded this book on my computer now i cant get my notes back on my Kindle. this is ridiculous!

mehrkat, that's a pretty nice looking iPearl case.  I like it but i wonder if it really provides much protection there there is no shock absorption.  Plus it has a stand.

I'm satisfied with what i have now. But  if i hadn't found this combo, i would definitely be looking to purchase one of those.

The website doesn't seem all that impressive.

I bought the wrong book. There were several books by a similar title and Amazon didn't have the Kindle book connected to the right book.

I was told that i could return the book within minutes of purchasing the book.  But i never saw that option. I used my PC to buy the book.  Where is the option to return the book? I know that after a certain time I have to contact customer service. Its only been about 5 mintues at this point.

Ok guys, I've looked. I don't see a place to post the pictures. I'd like to post them here so anyone can pull them up even a year later if they want. But i don't see the option. If you have any suggestions let me know. If not I can host them in a webpage for a few days just so you guys can see them.

Ok it is 10:42 PM and I'm keeping my promise. I'm back. I'll see if i can load the pictures.

The pictures show both the eReader sleeve and the Philips DVD player case.

The sleeve fits snuggly inside the Philips DVD Player case. There is a belt or scrap in the DVD Player carrying case that can also hold the Kindle and sleeve in place.

The Philips case comes with 5 scraps.  One is a shoulder scrap. The others for for various uses for a mounting a DVD Player. You can also use it to hold the kindle in place or just not use them.  (I don't see the need for them so i don't use them. the K3 is already snug.)

The Philips case has two compartments. One is where I place my kindle. The other holds CDs/DVDs and there is a mesh side pocket where i place my Kindle and phone chargers.  You can see these chargers in the pictures as well. If you don't want to use the CD/DVD holders for CDs/DVDs, you could use them to hold various objects such as pens, hard drives, rubber bands, etc.

There is also enough room in the Philips case to place a portable hard drive as well. I place this in its case inside the Philips case. I don't need the HD case, but i owned it before i bought the Kindle and all. If i wanted i could also include my cell phone or whatever.

The whole thing is small enough to not seem obsessive or too big. I can carry it on my shoulder when getting in and out of the car leaving my hands free. It is versatile! whenever I'm at work or I'm at home, if the K3 is outside the carrying case, I can quickly put it within the sleeve when It is not in use -- offering some protection if dropped or rubbed against. In its Philips case my K3 has double protection.  my K3 will be complete safe unless i drop it in water. That can be easily prevented in most cases.

I love this arrangement. It is not too much or too clumbersome. I can pull everything out quickly and put it back together in a split second.  It all looks as if  they were designed to work together!

Well I'm glad you are interested. I said to myself, no one will really be interested. I was going to post more details but i didn't because of that. What Ill do is take a picture and post it hopefully this afternoon.

It was near the iPad cases. The Kindle fits it PERFECTLY.  The Philips DVD player case was locked up with the DVD players.  If i were smart, i could have gotten the product number off of the box and posted it on here.

I had been looking around everywhere for a Kindle case and could not find one that i thought was adequate. i wanted soemthing to protect against DROPPING. Having a waterproof kindle would be good but not necessary for me.

The cheap cases different companies created for the Kindle were too expensive and offered little protection.

I wanted to provide a picture of what i got. Maybe I'll just take my own pictures and post them here when i get a chance.

I got a Griffin Jumper for eReaders at Walmart. It cost about $14.  It is a nice looking black comfortable looking sleeve. The top of the eReader, Kindle, is exposed so you can see the label. It looks very nice. Like your favor toy in its Christmas stocking. lol.  I bought this one because it would allow me to protect my kindle from short falls or scratches while in the house.

I also got the Philips portable DVD player bag. It was $20. Surprisingly the Kindle and it Griffin Jumper sleeve fits into the Philips bag perfectly. I'm able to also add my small portable Hard Drive int it as well with still more space.   What i like about it is that the kindle fits pretty snug.  and the bag is not too big. it is not bulky or make me feel i'm carrying a lot around. It also has numerous scraps along with a shoulder scrap and handle.

This seems to be the perfect combo for me.  If the case falls to the concret outside, no problem. With both sleeve and case protecting it, my K3 should not feel a thing!

The same thing had crossed my mind.  Thanks for speaking out loud. He's not even come back to explain himself.

Thanks guys! No, I'm not interested in popular highlights. I've seen those. They are interesting. I was just wondering about preserving the highlights from my personal books that i add such as from PDF files. If not bought many Kindle book at this time.

Looks like from the first response i need to reserve at least 2 files. the AZW and the  MBP.

Well i was talking about a backup first to keep my content attached to the eBook. I would not want to have to go through and re-highlight everything just because i moved the book.

I've thought about removing my clippings everytime i read a book, but i was afraid of what would happen to my other books. So perhaps that is good if i want to keep an individual file or a concise summary of the book's main points.

Now that i know that deletign the clippings will not delete my highlights and notes, I can do this as well.

I was really afaid of doming much of anything because i didn't want to make a mess i would then have to clean up.

So i don't need the AZW file or do i need both?

is there a way to view the MBP file? I'm just wondering. LOoking at Clippings is a hassle. Its a lot of crap to read through.

Thanks!  That was quick.

Since i bought my kindle I've been uploading all kinds of docs and PDFs. But I'm wondering what happens to my docs when i remove them from my Kindle?   Will i lose all my highlights and notes?  How can i preserve them?

When i attach my Kindle to my computer i notice that there are tons of other files in my Kindle not just AZW files.

I'm confused. If i have a Kindle and I have a Word Doc why would i want to send it there and pay when all i need to do is send it to my free Kindle email account and have it converted?

It doesn' seem to do PDFs, pictures, or anything. Does it even do table of contents?
