If I recall correctly, can't you do a translate in Calibre and change the files to AZW?

Not Quite Kindle / Re: The Tea Thread
« on: August 15, 2018, 06:19:37 am »
Funny how one can get "addicted" to following a thread. I don't drink tea very often and don't REALLY have an interest, but I enjoy following this thread. Interesting that some of you actually weigh to the gram you tea.

Alexa, Siri, Bixby ... they're becoming ubiquitous, so we're going to need to adjust. Do you put a piece of tape over the camera on your devices? They can easily be controlled remotely (check some of the permissions you have to give apps). Now THAT'S scary! :)

If you Google "eink laptops" you'll get a number of responses. Maybe one of these would work.

Since we're looking at new versions, I hope they'll let us flip the reader. I'm left handed stuck with a right handed eReader. :(

Hey, look what I found.

I just use tap water. Occasionally run a cup of white vinegar through it then several cups of tap water to rinse.

Happens to me too. I figure it's just one of those somewhat irritating technology things, like FaceBook not being able to remember that I want to see the most recent posts rather than the top stories.  ::)  (Who decides what are my top stories anyways?)

Looks like you could use one of those infusers as a strainer also.

Fire Talk / Re: Front Page all Clut tered up
« on: January 25, 2018, 06:11:18 am »
If you bought the books from Amazon, they are in your cloud library and will be available "forever". If you want to get them off of your front page/home page press and hold on it until a drop down bar appears at the top of the page. One of the options will be remove. You can then remove the book from the front page by tapping on "From Favorites". If you want to remove it from your Fire, choose "From Device". Note: if you want to remove it from both places, choose "From Device" first then press again and choose "From Favorites".

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: How to rename Kindle bookmark?

Doesn't navigating to a specific location put it at the top of the page? Maybe you could do that before creating the bookmark?

Fire Talk / Re: How to enable images on HD 8
« on: January 16, 2018, 04:51:31 am »
Enabling images is usually a setting in the email program, so check there first. IF that doesn't do it, it may be a browser setting.

mlewis78, if you're looking for recipes the internet is a bountiful source. I have a couple of IP cookbooks, but only because they were free. My go to recipe web site is CopyMeThat.com. If I don't find what I want there I google beginning the query with "pressure cooker". I use my IP several times a week, usually. It's just so fast and easy.

Maybe Amazon subcontracts to Apple for their devices. Hahahaha :o

On the other hand, maybe those monster ships are large enough to produce a gravity well of sorts.

Not Quite Kindle / Re: Vegetarian main dish that's actually tasty?
« on: December 14, 2017, 04:05:04 am »
This is more of a side dish but still very tasty:
Sauteed Green Beans w/ Garlic
Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cloves chopped garlic
1 pound fresh green beans (ends trimmed and cut in half)
1/2 (14.5-ounce) can stewed tomatoes, chopped and drained
1 teaspoon ham soup base (or 1 ham bouillon cube)
Steps
Heat oil in a medium sized pan and add garlic. Sauté to sweat out flavor about 3 - 4 minutes - you don't want to fry the garlic.
Increase heat to medium high. Add the green beans and sauté, turning often until tender crisp - maybe 3 - 4 minutes.
Add tomatoes (chop them up a bit) and ham base then heat to boiling. Simmer about 5 minutes to blend flavors and soften beans.
(I often cover and put into oven at about 300°F for 20 minutes after simmering to soften them more.)
Serve.

Is the shelf on or near the treadmill's electronics? There may be some sort of interference coming from that source?

Eggplant parmesan is a good offering.

Also, I use Copy Me That to keep my recipes online. It has some shortcomings - can't find a way to email recipes, but has some pretty good features. I've also heard mention of an app called Paprika.
FaceBook groups I follow:
Instant Pot Cooks (All Pots Welcome)
Instant Pot Diabetes Friendly Recipes
Electric Pressure Cooker Recipes, Tricks and Tips
I'm sure there are others - all of them have recipes.

There are several FaceBook groups dedicated to the IP, so if you FB you might want to check them out. Also, just Google a recipe with "pressure cooker" in front or at the end. Internet is my main source for recipes. Haven't found any cookbooks that really get me excited. But that's just me. :)

Smallest current offering is a 3 quart model. I have a 6 quart for my wife and I and occasionally I think I'd like something smaller. I'm tempted by the 3 quart and it's on sale for only $52 today. Maybe ... maybe not ... maybe ...

The Fire, for several years, has been my first choice of reader. I finally had to get a Paper white when I retired and started going to our community pool ... Fire, being back lit like your cell phone doesn't show up so well in bright sunlight. The weight difference never really bothers me.

Anything Else Amazon / Re: Amazon to Adapt Lord of the Rings

It'll probably be just whatever they write, set in Middle Earth. I suspect they're mainly cashing in on the name.

Is your husband side loading the app from somewhere other than Amazon app store? If so, be sure his Fire is set to allow Apps From Unknown Sources. On my Fire that setting is found under the Applications menu option.
