It talks about the "wireless connection" for the K1, K2, and DX which, of course, were all 3G only.  I wonder if the later Kindles with both Wi-Fi and 3G will update with the 3G on if no Wi-Fi connection is available?  I don't see anyplace in the Help page where Amazon lists a manual download option.

Do I have to manually download on my Dx?  What will happen if I don't do that?

I'm in the same boat although I don't buy the warranties.  Basically Apple genius hooked up my HP wireless computer from their store when I bought my first Macbook in 2007.  I had the same printer that just broke.  I am desperate for a new printer.  Also wondr if I need a new Airport Extreme or whatever the router/modem thingy is called.  Bought that in 2007 also.  Wonder if it's slowing down my wireless. I do want wrielyess and airprint.  Was thinking of  HP 8620 but I think it's a couple years old.  What about the new HP Envy printers?  I am so scared to make the jump aas I am so non techy  I know I won't be able to get it right.    I am in a bind as I had a death in my family and need to all of a sundden print lots of documents and can't print a thing.  I think buying from Staples is a good place.  Or Best  Buy maybe. JMHO and all suggestions appreciated if I didn't steal your thread, Sandpiper

Anyone know if the Fire TV has been on sale yet for Prime Day?
It was listed in the preview I saw in a link on this thread as on sale in the UK so it must be going to happen here too I would think.

They renewed my membership even though my card had expired.  I wasn't planningon renewing.  I have a boatload of books that I never downloaded.  I heard you can't download to your computer anymore just to your Nook.  Well guess what?  I doubt my Nook Color works anymore it's so old.  Any workarounds athat anyone knows about?  I want my ebooks from B&N on my computer. They're crazy.

I have an iphone 5 with a not so gret plan.  450 minutes, I pay fo r 200 texts and they screwed me out of free nights and weekends when I took my mom off who wasn't on in the beginning anyway.  I lost that battle so I hve a certain number of night and weekend with AT&T.  The thing I do have is unlimited data and I don't want to give that up for $29.99.  I also have unlimited data on my ipad for another $29.99.

Are you saying I will lose the unlimited data and have to go to a NEXT plan? Or that might be cheaper?  I don't use my phoe a lot but am thinking of getting rid of my home phone.  Also might be moving to Texas in a year or so and AT&T isn't the greatest down there.  But even though I don't use the data, I want to keep it unlimited on an iphone 6+ and thereby bypass buying an iipad mini or a newer ipad air. I have the Ipad 4.

Anything Else Amazon / Re: Get Prime for $72 on Saturday

I think they changed it after the first big sale for Prime.  Mine ends next week.  You mean if I end it now, it won't really end til next week?  I just want to be able to use the $72 Prime card without getting in hot water with Amazon.  Otherwise, it will become a $72 gift card which is exactly what I paid for it.   Amazon is supposed to remind me before they autorenew.  I think I got an email about that recently.

I think I will give it a shot and hit end prime.  I did it before and it said are you sure. Youo will lose this and this and this.  I hope it all comes back nice and neat.

Has anyone tried this?  ending their prime and joining  with the  $72 gift cert for Prime?   My Prime ends next week and  I can't believe I'm the only one to try this.  (Gulp).  Hope Amazon doesn't kick me off.  It's clear you aren't supposed to use it if you are a Prime member already.

Anyone have a quick link to a list of stations on Fire TV?  I read an article today that had them for Apple and there wee a ton.  I just can't seem to get the hang of the Fires that I've owned.  I love my kindles, but they confabulate me.

I had AT&T DSL until last fall.  Then upgraded to AT&T U-verse for internet at 18 Mbps (no TV or phone).  I've NEVER had cable or satellite -- OTA only.  Started streaming last year after getting Fire TV.  Love it!  There's so much more on TV than there used to be ;) -- Amazon videos, Netflix, HBONOW, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to sign up for Hulu Plus.

Sandpiper, I know you use a bunch of Apple products.  What made you buy Fire TV instead of Apple?
Just curious since I don'tr have a streaming device at all.  Matter of fact I am currently sans TV also.  Need to get one soon (TV) and get a streaming device.   I have Prime, but for some reason Apple tv appeals to me because of the air play I guess.  and my music.

I think I read recently that  Kindle is reserving the right to limit the number of personal docs they allow in the cloud or MYK.

Any ideas?

Not Quite Kindle / Re: The Tea Thread
« on: March 25, 2015, 07:49:39 pm »
I don't have any tea specialty shops in my town.   >:(  My only options are what the grocery stores sell.

Sandra --you could order online from Gswender, the one that Crebel got everyone going to., Teavana.  I like Zhi Tea out of Austin also and they often have sales.  I haven't been drinking tea.  But I have a lot of teammakers and tea that's for sure.

Hi All,
I've missed you all.  Happy Birthday Neo, Ruby, Jen, Geoff, Jane, Cobbie,
and whoever else I missed.  I know I got  Sandra. I don't get birthday notifications on here.  How do you do that?

I have been a huge essential oil far for many years.  One of my few great pleasures in life and now I can no longer smell.  Unbelievable.  I had about 100 essential oils from Aveda, Young Living, a couple of the real things in blue bottles.  Now someone just offered me Doterra from somewhere and I can't remember which.  I can't smell them and that's half the point.  I think I threw half of them away at least this year.  Oh I buy the burning ones from the Body Shop too, probably not the real thing, but I used to like burning them.  Anyway, wanted to say that lavendar is very calming and good for sleep.  Put a little cotton ball under or near your pillow case.  You have to be careful because no matter what Doterra or Young Living says, it is almost never ok to ingest essestial oils orally.  Dangerous.  Even when diluted.

I possibly may be moving to Texas, but I'm going to have to hire Sandra to even contemplate it.  I just can't get rid of things.  Runs in my family and the older the women get the worse it gets.  I make little progress here and there but not really.  I've been retired since April and it's time for a change.  I've never lived anywhere but this area; I'm 64, and may be too old to do this on my own.  and I am on my own.  But my important family is in Texas.  I don't know why they all couldn't have relocated to the ocean in 93.  I mean Texas??No offense meant but it's just not my kind of country.   But after this winter I am ready for warmer.

Stay sane everyone.   Enjoy Spring.   It's not really even near us yet.  Sleet and windstorm supposed to hit tonight.  My driveway was a little slippery when I took the garbage out.

Buy, Sell, Trade, and Barter / Re: Need M-Edge Platform for Kindle DX
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:33:49 pm »
The old M-Edge platform for the BIG Kindle DX is about to be Duct Taped, really bad shape, almost 2 pieces.  I've checked on line here with no results.  Anyone have a useable one lying around.  I do not want to give up the DX, its become an extension of my hand.  The DX is 10 3/8 X 7 1/8  Thanks all

I have a lot of DX covers, plus a DX I would be willing to sell. Do you have a photo of the M Edge?

My Original Fire never had 3G just WiFi.  I don't think any of the original Fires had 3G, did they?  My K2 did of course - whispernet.  but that was slow to use for anything other than wikipedia or amazon to order a book.

The very first Fire tablets ALL had it I believe.  It was free.  They didn't keep that up for long.  I'm sure they all had it. I could use email without wifi just like any other cellurlar device only I didn't have to pay for it.  Anyone else remember this?  Maybe I'll ask on a Fire board.

Well, that's what Corky was maybe so!

Well, I did it.  I bought it for myself and received the email. I can join whenever I want.  I don't know if there is an expiration.  I should look.   However, I went to manage my Prime account and stop the auto renewal and it says "end membership".  I pressed that and it said are you sure?  You will lose blah blah.  So I didn't end it. I think it would end now and this gift probably has a year to be activated and I would be without Prime now, have to join for $99 and miss the window to join for $72.  I think that's how it worked before.  So i just made a reminder to end my membership shortly before it auto renews.

Not sure if it will work or not but the most I will be out is zero.  I will get a $72 gift card I believe.   anybody else try it?

I quoted this from your quote in your second reply on the $72 special for Prime   "Quote
Amazon will send your gift recipient an email on the day you choose, along with redemption instructions. The gift recipient can start their Prime membership right away. If the recipient is already a Prime member, the gift can be exchanged for an Gift Card. The one-year gift membership does not automatically renew.

If you sent it to yourself, couldn't you just hold it til your Prime expired , not renew, and then sign up for $72?

I could actually try the Chanel here.  Did you end up not liking the  Syslie Phyto….?

Sometimes I still use that Burberry underthing. I really love that.  I really love the Burberry foundation too, but my skin is really changed.  Agen, hormones, not slathering stuff all over it like I did dailly since I was in my late 20s.   Takes a toll.

Jane and SN, the stichfix website looks interesting. I'll have to check it out.

As far as shopping --

Shoes - Munro Lacy in Indigo (unbelievably comfortable), and Ecco Yucatan in Black/Mole (replacement for my falling apart Tevas).

Cosmetics -
Foundations - Why do I do this when I'm quite happy with my Burberry?!
Sisley 'Phyto-Teint Eclat' Fluid Foundation (Love!)
Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth Effect. (I just got this so I haven't tried it, yet.)

Highlighter - Chanel Dentelle Precieuse Illuminatong Face Powder (Haven't tried this, either. Didn't need it, just wanted it, surprise, surprise  ;))

Eyeshadow - Chanel Dunes
I've been wanting this for a while and finally succumbed. Another one that's still on my desk....but soon....(before I get any flack from anyone here, lol.).

Insulated bags -
My husband picked up the larger one at Target to hold Popsicles and gelato to give to the grandkids. It seemed to do a good job. My friend sometimes brings this single serve wine when we go out to dinner and I thought she might like one for keeping them cold.

That's about it.

Ok, this is an old post and I guess I haven't been around in a long long time.  Hello everyone.  I did check sometimes and there seemed like here was no one here.  Now I just read three pages of greetings and new products and my mind is in a swirl.  Cobbie, Cobbie, Cobbie, I need to ask you about these foundations.  What color Burberry do we use?  I threw it out.   You changed from Burberry to Sisley something or other?  REALLY?  do you still like it better six months later?  what color is it? And what color in the Chanel and how do you like it?

I Have a Neiman Marcus gift card burning a whole and they don't sell Burberry.  I cannot believe it.   So maybe I'll get some make up ideas from you and others here.  I need to buy a foundation and that underthing from Burberry.  I retired and have worn make up leass thant half a dozen times.  I have been a slug long enough.

Indeed it was SN! ;D ;D ;D

Question: I am having a terrible time with my Kindle Fire HDX7.  The battery never charges to 100%. I'm on my third replacement, all refurbished, and they have all been defective! >:(.  I've tried different chargers and different wall outlets with the same lack of results. Anyone else have a Fire HDX? Anyone else having issues?  On what Kindle device are you reading? Are you happy with your current device?

Yikes, I bought an HDX7 in December and haven't opened the box.  I only have another day or two to get it in the mail if I am going to return it.  I best do that if everyone is having problems and I haven't opened it.

Jane, I have this one in white. When I looked back to find the link I was surprised to find that I've had it for four years. It's very powerful and dries my hair in record time.

Cobbie, don't tell me you didn't jump on the Hana bandwagon for hairdryers?

I have an eink kindle 2 (white with keyboard).  I think the eink screens are the best for reading.
I also have an original Kindle Fire.  And use it a lot.  No real problems.  Every now and then  I ask it to change what it is doing before it is through displaying and it seems to get lost.  But that is my fault for being impatient.

HI Jeff,
I have an original Fire myself and was going to give it to my brother so he could have free cellular for email and stuff since he doesn't have e asmart phone or a data plan.  The 3G didn't work at all.  Someone told me it's because the cellular providers no longer operate on3G.  I always thought things were backward compatible.  Does your cellular work on your original Fire?
