I didn't think about it being an Oscar dammit
I had my cover tweaked and published it. The NEW cover shows correctly in the Bookshelf and inside the book, however the OLD cover shows on my page and in searches. I've made the change twice with the same results. I've contacted Amazon, but not heard from them.
(couldn't find this subject when searching here)
Anyone know how Amazon decides on what goes into its "Short Story" (sub)categories? (NOTE: I'm not talking about "Short Reads") I've been looking and am seeing everything from real shorts to novel-lengths in Best Sellers under various Lit & Fic > Short Story sub-categories. What's up with that? Doesn't the algorithm see its own page/word counts? Or do keywords and tags trump that?
Prior to last year Google Play as a retailer was annoying and wasn't a viable option. Now I see a lot of KB-ers, myself included, making the move over there and I wanted to hear the success stories.
My success story is very small, but I make more on Google than at Amazon (not much at all, but there is a difference) and I love the monthly deposits. I can see Google taking second place over BN and Apple in a year or two.
So I hope to read other author's success stories, experiences and thoughts.
My bio is real but written in a lighthearted way so people don't get too bored if they care to read it.
I bought a 10.1" android tablet with bluetooth keyboard (nice kit) for writing on-the-go.
However, I have yet to find a writing tool along the lines of Jutoh, Scrivener, or Writers Cafe that will provide me with the flexibility that I get on my laptop. I also want the product to save to my cloud banks.
Has anyone else had this problem and did you find a solutions that works?
I'm thinking this is a new bot trawling all of the ebooks and using the 'estimated number of pages' or the 'paperback # of pages' as a way to automatically assign it a slot:
15 minutes (1-11 pages)
30 minutes (12-21 pages)
45 minutes (22-32 pages)
One hour (33-43 pages)
90 minutes (44-64 pages)
Two hours or more (65-100 pages)
Great stuff.
I always thought a short story was longer than a novella and novelette. Like 25,000 and novellas and novelettes fell under that
I wonder what FLASH fiction falls into? 500 words
What is the general consensus on word count/pages for a novella and how does that compare to a short story?
Also where would a serial fall into that? Would it be considered a novella or a short story?
I set my first book free on other sites way before the sequel was ready, assuming Amazon would take forever to match it. It took two days.
Exactly.
http://www.pinterest.com/vydorscope/ is mine, but I do not really have clue how to use it effectivily
If they can't "reach" 220,000 like they said, and know they can only "reach" 74,000 that is fraud on their part since that is what they specifically said they would do. They know what percentage of their viewers use blockers. I expect some fluff on their part but to only reach 33% over 21.4x (when it should be around 10) is not with in reasonable limits.
Also the frequency shown to the same group was going way up after a week. It was apparent they can't reach 220,00 since the number reached was going down. I see it as a way of scamming small businesses since there is no way to communicate with anyone in the ad department. And with the excessive extra frequency, clicks were going way down.
Thanks Aithne,
you posted as i was responding to Sarah. That's great, thank you very much
