Well Tesco have already announced they'll be adding books to their electronic media brand: Blinkbox.

Not sure how much of an impact that's going to have (Blinkbox still don't have the name recognition of Lovefilm, which Amazon own, or Netflix), and most grocery shopping is still done offline.

Still, more ebook retailers (esp with more and more closing) can only be a good thing.

You also get tracking stats (opens and clicks) to see how many of your subscribers are actually reading what you send.

MailChimp is far from the only option, just the best known/most popular (if nothing else because it's free for low volumes).

Using the third-party ESP (Email Service Provider) is well worth it (for all the reasons stated above).

You might need to make the author text a bit bolder so stand out when it's smaller though.

The font is number 2 is a little too Harry Potter, but that font combo probably works a bit better. The title font in number 3 suggests horror, but from what you've described it sounds like it's got a fair bit of humour.

There are advantages to online too: you can write on any device with an internet connection and a browser, pretty-much anywhere.

You also don't have to worry about someone stealing your computer, or it getting infected, or your hard drive dying, or you hard drive becoming corrupt, or...

Pros and cons. I only do my first draft at Write Here, mainly because its easy to keep track of goals against a daily word count. That's the best driver I've found, for me.

From a technical stand point, the spider probably doesn't even register on Amazon's daily hit count, even at 54k, even if it were ten times that.

And as Hugh mentioned, I imagine they're very happy for this sort of news to hit the net, they'd have to pay a heap for all this advertising/sharing. It's like a viral hit.

I vaguely remember that Scrivener can sync with Simplenote, which you can get on Andriod (not sure if it's in the Amazon store).

So that might be an option.

I think this thread makes it obvious there is no standard.

Personally, I went for 11pt Garamond (14.5pt line height) and it looks good to me.
