You did a hard reboot or just turned it off and on again? If you haven't, try a hard reboot and if that still doesn't work I would contact customer service about it.

   Thanks for all of the replies. Yes I did do a hard reboot or at least I thought thatb I did. Just to make sure, I did one again and all is well now so either I did not do it right the first time or it took the 2nd time. Either way, my Paperwhite is working again and I am back to reading in comfort.  Thanks again for all of the replies.

For awhile I did not go to the library as much but now I get the books from the library that I would have spent upwards of 9.99 on the Kindle. So I do spend much more time in the Library than I used to. 

Nice that they sent you a whole new unit. I had a similar problem with my Paperwhite2, just could not get it to charge properly. Amazon rep that I talked to figured that the problem most likely was with the charger, not the unit. So they sent me a new charger. They were riught. fixed te issue. I bet that was the same problem with yours.

 It all depends on how much you use Amazon.  We do the majority of our shopping on Amazon and try to make it all Prime items. While we now have to pay the taxes that we did not used to have to pay, we enjoy the quick delivery and the fact that we can shop from home. We also no longer have cable tv and use Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu Plus streaming for our video entertainment. This saves us more than $120/month in cable  fees which easily pays for the annual Prime fee. So, all that said, we like it. But if you don't use Amazon prime or take advantage of Amazon Prime Videos or the lending library, the $99/yr fee is probably not worth it.

 I have 3rd gen kindle Kindle HD, Kindle HDX, Kindle Paperwhite and an iPad.....and they all connected to the internet via my router and Comcast. That is until recently when the Kindle HDX has a WiFi connection issue. When I try to connect to the router now I get a message: "authentication problem"...... I am putting in the correct password.

Very easy to delete several or more books at one time from any Amazon device.

 We have had Amazon Prime for quite a few years now and find that the fee is saved very quickly in the savings in other areas. We dropped our $100+/month cable bill in part due to Amazon prime streaming tv and movies. With Amazon, Hulu+ and others, plus an antenna that picks up local stations, we don't miss cable tv at all. The free shipping is easily well worth the fee several times over in gas costs running around town. Items we buy on Amazon, we don't pay taxes on (yet).  The free book every month from the lending library for prime members is a big savings. Come Christmas time rather than rush around town with the crowds, searching for gifts, the wife and I sit at the table, do our shopping with a glass of wine and the gifts arrive at the door in a couple of days. Yeah, for us Amazon Prime is most definitely worth it! 

  I bought a new Kindle HDX awhile ago and the wife has taken a liking to it. So I would like to give this one to her and set it all up so that it is in her name, her email, etc.
right now it has all of my stuff on it. So my question is, How would I go about doing this? Do I need to deregister it from my name? Would she need to set up a new account? or is there
a way that she could sort of just be added to the existing account and sign on with her name/id/password?

  I went ahead and ordered an 32gb 7" HDX yesterday, with the Monday Cyber Deal and some Amazon points it was less than $200, pretty sweet. I'll have it tomorrow. Qusetion tho...Just wondering if the apps that I had set up on my orginal kindle fire will be available on the HDX?

  Not to knock the Kindle but there is a reason that the iPad is the number 1 tablet on the market. That said there is a lot of competition and other windows based tablets are quickly catching up, I think that the Kindle is still much more of an entertainment device than a productivity one.  I like my i{ad for all of the things that it does and is capable of doing, still I would like to see them come out with an SD card slot. It appears that we will be getting another tablet as the wife has been using my iPad a lot, so there very well may be an HDX Kindle in the near future (wifes choice)

  I love the borrowing feature. It pays for a good portion of my prime membership in itself.

   I was finally in he market for a tablet. As a long time kindle user, I was ready to get the 8.9 Kindle but figure I would just check a few other before pushing "one click". I am so glad I did as there is such a huge difference in the in the other windows tablets, and the iPad. After using the iPad for about half an hour at the Apple store there was no question about which one I was going to get. There is a bit of a learning curve as, other than an older iPod, this is my first real Apple unit. But the outstanding display, the speed are so good. I have also downloaded the Kindle app so I can still read all of my Kindle books on the iPad if I want to. The front and back camera are very nice, makes using Skype very easy. There is not much that I cannot do on the iPad that can be done on my PC. I just have the wi-fi connection but then wi-fi is available most everywhere that I am these days so no need to spend the extra bucks for the 4g connection.
