The Book Corner / Re: What Was The First Story That Hooked You?

My Answer hands down would have to be The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. I was a young man reading that and got so hooked in the legend of Middle Earth pre Rings.

I would like to find out what are some of your favorite books in the horror genre. Mine are of course The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Dracula and Scary Stories to tell in the Dark.

Well I'd suggest The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. No this is not some ad for the upcoming movie I read the book when I was younger and I loved it and it didn't have anything to do with the Fate of the world only stealing treasure from a greedy Dragon. Check it out it's worthwhile.

I vote for ghosts and intelligent zombies. Haven't seen them in a while in romance literature if at all.

How long did it take for you to get noticed and generate the buzz you have now and what did you do to get noticed? I'm a new author and would certainly love to hear some tips and tricks from other authors.

Jack Valentine. Man of Mystery. Who is he? where did he come from? All these questions and more will be answered in the future but for now as for Jack's personality imagine the love child of Bruce Wayne and James Bond.

This is my thread for my newly published ebook called "My Funny Valentine" part of the Jack Valentine saga of books that I write.

Former secret agent Jack Valentine is on the run from a highly classified organization, the very one that trained him. Now he has sought refuge in the city of New Star U.S.A where he begins his so called life mission of ridding the world of gangs and organized crime, a vow he made to someone special to him in his life. When things seem to be going his way along comes a spider. A criminal mastermind calling himself the Monitor has risen in New Star City and has an agenda of chaos. He plans to unite all the cities gangs and bring in the mafia to launch an insurrection and the local law enforcement are powerless to stop him. It's up to Jack Valentine to put aside his vengeance and work to defeat the sick chaos of the Monitor and bring peace and order back to the city and along the way exorcise the demons of his troubled past.

"A refreshing look on the spy/crime world. My Funny Valentine may not be the deep Shakespearean experience you are looking for but if you want a good action packed story that takes you from Point A to Point Z at 60 mph and making more than a few stops for drama and romance My Funny Valentine is here for you."

Thank you. It's nice to meet other literature fanatics such as meself.

I know this might seem out of place in this part of the forum but are KindleBoards a good place for new novels to be discovered by the reading population?

The Book Corner / Re: Books that Freaked You Out as a Kid

The book that freaked me out as a kid was the Scary Stories to tell in the Dark series by Alvin Schwartz. sure some of the stories were light horror, but the deep ghost stories stuck with you and made you cringe your bed at the ripe old age of five.

The Book Corner / Re: Werewolves and Vampires with good tans?

I too prefer a Gothic Chill of the Night style of Vampire like Christopher Lee and Frank Langella. Dracula the orginal king of vampires, evil guy he may be had style and flair. Now we have sparkling Vamps riding Volvos and Aston Martin's and playing baseball during thunderstorms to indie rock. Not my particular glass of red wine but that's just one man's opinion. Werewolves I think are getting the same kind of campy trendy treatment like Vampires. A good werewolf as I recall in the stories and movies I read maintained some level of human feature such as the ability to walk upright while still being an unholy canine killing machine. Now the Lycans just look like regular dogs running all over the place but hey as I said that's just one man's opinion

Thank you for such warm welcomes. I promise to always stick to Forum Decorum. (ugh the poet in me came out again lol) I'm a man of my word.
