Since I am accepting new clients, I'm offering a discount for all manuscripts booked through the rest of 2020, at my original rate of $0.002 per word (that's $2 per 1,000 words). This discount includes existing clients, because I love you guys too. :-)

My payments always show up on the dashboard the next day after I get the emails, never at the same time as the emails. I thought that was normal, haha.

Sadly, not anymore. Amazon removed the list of categories from the bottom of product pages quite a while ago. Now you can only see the top three categories the book is in, right beneath the overall rank. Your books are likely in more than three categories, but there's no way to tell which ones from your product page.

Good to know that Amazon will (eventually) tell you all the categories. I didn't think they would, so I never bothered asking -- maybe now I will.

Loads of psychological thrillers (one of the current trending genres) do this, so it's pretty much expected to find crazy switches when you pick one of them up. The trick is to make sure that both your POV and tense are consistent *within each scene*.

But yeah, if you're looking for an example of a particular POV and tense throughout the whole book, look at pretty much anything except a psychological thriller. :D

By the way, was 'Into the Water' any good? I enjoyed 'Girl on the Train' but didn't even realize Paula Hawkins had a new one out, LOL.

This year I've decided to hang out my editing shingle. As of April 8, my rates are now $0.003 per word (that's $3 per 1,000 words -- so, for example, a 50,000-word manuscript would be $150).

I'm happy to provide you with a free sample edit of up to 1,500 words so you can get a feel for how I work and decide whether my services are right for you.

The copy editing service covers:

* Spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and tense, including technical consistency
* Inconsistencies and continuity errors
* Fact checking and potential legal liability
* Repeated and/or overused words, confusing passages, and tonal shifts

Because I've worked extensively in various fields of publishing, I offer copy editing for all genres, and in both fiction and non-fiction.

Turnaround times and scheduling

Turnaround time for editing will be approximately 4 to 7 days, depending on the length of the manuscript and the number of projects I have. I typically reply to emails within one to two days. If you don't receive a reply relatively soon, please feel free to resend your message. :)

Maybe someday I can work up to a bigger daily average word count instead of starting out slow and picking up steam... writing lots more per day toward the end of the book does work, but it's exhausting, LOL. I end up doing that with almost every book for some reason (just not with quite that many words on the last day!)

Two books before this one I did 25K or so in a weekend to finish it, but the 17.5 K is now officially my record for one day. :P

Must get to today's writing!

127 words on Brand New Book. :D Don't know if I'll keep going any more today, but I wanted to post that I wrote. (And after an intense session like yesterday, I'd normally take at least a few days off, so woo!)

Pre-orders always seem like a good idea - lets your readers know there's another book coming, and so on - but then you see that three day lock in and, if you're foolish like me, you set your release day up for a Monday so you don't even have the weekend to pull all the stops out.  Not fun at all while working full time and writing on the side.  Never doing a Monday pre-order again.  Thursdays or Fridays for me from now on!

Thank you! Yep, this is exactly where I lose it too -- like I'm done now, no more steps, take a break. I probably would stop now for way too long if it wasn't for this challenge, but I'm in it, so I have a new book I'll be starting today. So thank you for having this challenge! :D

Okay, nobody's going to believe this, but I swear it's true...

I wrote 17,479 words today.

And I'm done.

I started at 7 this morning and wrote almost straight through until now (it's 1 AM here on the east coast) and my preorder timer still has 23 hours left (woo!). Just enough time for final edits, formatting, all that stuff -- luckily my editor works as I write, and lives in my house, and works for free because he's my husband. :P

Woohoo, and I'm never doing a preorder again! (Even though I said I'd never do one again the last time, LOL).
