Per the Help page on Amazon:

Here's what's new:

Swipe-able Home: Swipe up on your home screen to see additional tips, recommendations, and more based on your reading habits.
Easily personalize your reading: Now save multiple reading settings, selecting the font, boldness level, and orientation settings you prefer all from the main menu and quickly switch between those settings.
Return borrowed books: You can return Kindle Owners' Lending Library books from within your library by long pressing on a borrowed book and selecting return.
Battery percentage: The percent of battery remaining is shown.
Labels for the standard toolbar: Labels are added under each icon on the standard toolbar for improved navigation.
Performance improvements and other general enhancements.

Are the performance improvements noticeable?   Still not sure I will download it before they push it.  Maybe I will.   Themes sound interesting.  ;D

Is that the only change they made?  I'm happy with the fonts I have now,  probably won't upgrade manually.  Now if they had fixed some bugs - like using the clock on the Voyage sometimes causing multiple page forwards, that would get me to upgrade.   ;D ;D

I'm surprised they are getting rid of the Voyage.   I ended up getting the Oasis 2,  but I really liked the Voyage.  It was solid,  no problems as far as I could tell - other than the lack of real page turn buttons.

My problem is the opposite. I touch the screen but it doesn't turn the page. If I press the button it goes to the page 2 pages ahead. If I press the button to turn back a page it blinks and stays on the current page like it knows it's supposed to be on the next page but just wasn't. Then if I push the button it will turn to the next page like it should.

I have a  similar problem but with the buttons.  If I press forward button, it doesn't turn the page.  But then  - if I press the button  again - it goes 2 pages ahead so I have to press back to get to where I wanted it to go in the first place.   Doesn't happen a lot, but it is annoying.   Not annoying enough tho to turn off the clock - which I like.

I agree with others that my problems were about the battery.. they stopped holding a charge.  I always wished that Amazon supported replaceable batteries.

Now that I've read for a few hours on the new Oasis,  two issues -  the original Casebot denim cover I bought was too scratchy since I read with the Kindle in its cover.  I replaced it with a synthetic leather patterned Fintie case - and it is perfect.  Pretty and feels good in my hands.   The second problem - is that sometimes more than one page changes when I use the button.  I must be pressing it for too long.  It would be nice if there was a sensitivity setting but I cannot find it.  Otherwise, I am very happy with it.  I like having the larger screen.

Memory, what was that again?  ;D

You are good to go then. They'll appear on the Oasis just like on the Voyage, just not starred (downloaded) yet.

I remember the importing, but I remember it being a mess on my end. For some reason it would keep old collections also backed up and wouldn't delete them in the system. So I always ended up with differently spelled duplicates. Cloud collections sure made that more easy and uniform.

Yep - now if I recall they wouldn't alphabetize so we used to have to put special symbols in front of them.. And I did get dups.  This will work.  And - as I have previously told myself - I will only download the specific books as I read them.   Hah!   Wonder how long that will last!

I gather you haven't had a kindle in a long time? They introduced cloud collections with the Paperwhite back in, I can't remember.  :P

Anywho, so now you don't import anything anymore. The collections on my older kindles like the keyboard are not compatible with the collections on my newer kindles. So I don't know if you have any cloud collections yet. Good thing is, you can also manage them on the account page.
In  my content and devices, you can create collections and put books into them. Just put the left drop down to collections. Or make one from I think its the right drop down. I don't have it in front of me.

If I was mistaken and you already have cloud collections, they will appear on your new Oasis. In the cloud, not on the device. So you have to mark each one as download and also pull each book on the device you want.

Just make sure you have the drop downs set right on the  home page. Make sure the left one is set to All, not just downloaded. Then change the middle and right dropdown to what you need. If you want to see just your collections, put it on collections. Otherwise I usually have it on all items, which then shows collections I downloaded to my device.

But yes, you have to pick the collections one by one out from the cloud. The ones you want to show on the device with a star on the right.

I was reading on a Voyage, but for some reason I thought I used to be able to import all of my Collections at one time.  Guess my memory is not cooperating!   Thanks for the feedback!

Got mine today (Christmas). Relevant to the posts above:

Yes, it's cold, but it warms up.
So far, it's not too slippery, because of the lip between the thick and thin portions.
Way brighter than my Paperwhite. A good improvement.
I thought the white text on black background might help with my obtrusive floaters, but so far, I don't care for that.

Overall, it's a keeper!

Mine just arrived this AM - and yes it is cold and slippery.  Figure it will improve after I put it in a cover and bring it in from the cold!  So far so good.  Now I need to remember how to get my collections downloaded.  Used to import them all at the same time,  but looks like I need to do one at a time??    Anyone find Import Collections on the new Oasis?

What apps?
e-readers don't have any apps, unless you mean the older ones that had active content (games).

Maybe he is talking about using the Kindle app on a smartphone or tablet?

I have been noticing that my Voyage battery was needing to be charged too often.  Then I turned on Airplane mode.  I think the reader goes out to Goodreads, etc if you have Airplane turned off which uses up a charge.  It is much better now - altho I decided to trade it in for the new Oasis.

Well - it took awhile, but I finally caved and traded in my Voyage for the new Oasis.  :D :D :D   I'm expecting delivery on Jan 17th.  They are offering not only the trade-in value but an extra $20 discount when you trade in.. so I saved $85.   Am anxious to see how much better it is than the Voyage, a little anxious since I love my Voyage.  I will buy another Voyage if I really don't like the Oasis 2!

Cool!  It may come earlier because mine want scheduled until 11/7.  Let us know!

Well I just cancelled my order.  I really do love the Voyage and I'm not sure I want a larger reader.  no need for waterproof.  I may change my mind later.  Maybe if the resolution was changing but its not.   Maybe later.

Okay, you convinced me  (along with other reviews) ..  I will wait until it arrives and I like it before I sell the Voyage (I have an Oberon cover for it so I would probably do better if I sell it myself).   I'm so gullible!!

Delivery on the 14th and I don't get the cover until the 29th (saddle leather)..  Actually, compared to earlier releases, that isn't bad!!

I am reading my Voyage.

Wondering - to those of you that bought this,  do you think its really worth the money?   As the Kindles keep going up in price,  I find it harder to justify the upgrades when I'm happy with what I have.

I will add to my post above that when calibrating it I turned on Auto brightness and went to those areas and then re-adjusted what it came up with to what I would prefer and it has since worked perfectly fine for me.

Thank you.  I think I did this once a long time ago but maybe it got out of synch.  I will definitely try it again.  Sometimes it just starts to fade out when I'm reading under a lamp.  Very strange.

I'm reading a Voyage right now.. and very happy with it.   I don't need the waterproofing.   The larger screen would be nice.  Hmmm.. Need to think about it.   I do agree that the Voyage light doesn't always reflect the surroundings.

I just stopped by to see if anyone else got an email about another Ebook settlement.  I have a new credit for $79.   What a surprise!  I thought all that was over.  :D :D :D

I had lunch with a group of friends last week. I brought along my Oasis in case I had to wait for them at the restaurant we had chosen. During the course of the meal, we were talking about our eyesight (we're all retired...such a cliche). I took out my Oasis, removed it from the cover, and passed it around for an eyesight check. I remarked that the Oasis can hold thousands of books. One of my friends took the device and said in a hushed voice "this can hold thousands of books?" He truly seemed to be in awe of the device. Since I'm so used to having a kindle, it was a nice jolt to see it through someone else's eyes. Sometimes it's nice to be reminded what a marvel the entire Kindle line is.

I so agree..   When I first got my Kindle - I took it to an eye doctor appointment (I have glaucoma and see one every 3 mo)... showed it to my doctor - especially how to increase the font size. He was so impressed, said he would recommend it to his patients.   I recall my Mom having to buy large print books and I think that is one of so many advantages of using a Kindle.  Every book is a large print book!

I'm stunned!!  I have a $322 credit in my account.   The previous ones weren't this high..  Good day! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Do you not fold the cover on the Oberon back?  I always used to fold mine back.  If you want to fold the Oberon, can you fold the Oasis case and put the cover part in the pocket on the right hand side?

Oh!  Good idea!!  And since I used to put my hand inside the folded Oberon cover,  I think I will use the Oasis with the button on the left side.  This is getting better all the time!

Darn  - turning the Oasis so the buttons are on the left side doesn't work since the Oasis cover is in the wrong direction.. but I can fold the cover now.

OK - I think I solved my dilemma.   The front cover on the Oasis fits inside of my Oberon covers.   The only thing I lose it that the Kindle won't turn off when I close the cover but its not that hard to just press the on/off button.   I can't fold the cover back,  but can still read it opened up like a book.[email protected]/26889664955/in/dateposted-public/lightbox/

I don't think you're nuts.  Love my Oasis, but everyone is different.  Atunah makes a good point, switch back to the Voyage and see if it makes you miss your Oasis.  If it doesn't, you've got your answer!

I miss the buttons and the ivory screen  when I use the Voyage but I miss my Oberon cover when I use the Oasis..  I've spent so many years using an Oberon that it just doesn't feel the same.  Does anyone know if Oberon plans to make a cover for the Oasis?    When they added the battery - Amazon really took the market away from any competitors.   I suspect they have the patent for that configuration.   What to do .. what to do..

I  know - I am nuts,  but I miss reading on the Voyage.  I think its the cover.  I am used to reading with the Voyage in  my Oberon covers, and miss the feel of holding something heavier. It just doesn't feel the same in the Oasis cover.    I go back and forth about the page turn buttons.   I prefer the screen on the Oasis but not sure its worth it anymore.    I know most of you prefer the lighter weight but it just doesn't feel the same.   Oh well..
