Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod...) / Re: WedgePad for iPad

Sam, I sent you an email a few weeks ago via your website but you never responded, so I'll try here.

Will you be getting the all-black WedgePads for the iPad again, and if so, when?

Thank you! :)

I just got a message that my games were being repaired.  I  think at least 4 games have disappeared.  If we were playing a game, you might want to start another one.

One of the lost games is ours.  I can't "find" you to create a new game, maybe because of your party hat Emoticons.  ???

This won't help to get it on your iPad, but since you're at the point now of being willing to read it in paper format, what about returning the electronic version and buying the paperback version instead?  I know it'd be cumbersome, but still better than the laptop.

I think it has to do with iCloud they're testing now. I would imagine with iOS 5
Thank you.  : )

If you have pages on your Mac soon they will sync automatically.
Any idea when?

I don't actually use it for that, so I don't know, but my geeky husband says you can export the document from Pages on the iPad and then use iTunes to transfer. He then added, "But it's easier to just email it."

And yeah, the auto-correct on my iPhone drive me nuts. Never try and type an acronym.

Thank you!

I find the iPad impossible to use for serious writing. I have not tried it with an external keyboard, maybe I could handle that. Pages is a good app, especially if you have the Mac version to send the documents to for editing.
Would you tell me the correct way to send documents from Pages on iPad to a Mac?  The only way we could figure out how to do it was to email it.  We even asked the Mac guy at Best Buy and then again at the Apple store, and were told emailing was the easiest way both times.  Is there a better way?

That isn't one I have seen before. Thanks so much for the suggestion! I added it to my appshopper list so it will notify me when the price drops again. Hopefully by then I will have completed the one I am working on now.
Love AppShopper!  It's a great way to remember stuff you wanted to buy, but not pay full price.  : )

I think you'll really enjoy this game.  It has three modes: normal, hard, and insane.  I can't really tell much difference between the three.  It's very doable, but does make you think -- just what my old brain needs!  : )

I am a time management game addict  ;D
Have you tried Megaplex Madness?  It's my favorite time management game.  I've deleted it and reinstalled it several times (that's the only way you can replay it -- but you don't get charged for it again).  It's by Big Fish Games, whose other games I love too.

Very fun!  : )

We have PowerSupport Anti-Glare shields on all our iThings.  It does cut down on clarity a bit, but it's worth it to us because fingerprints don't show.  We tried their Crystal shield on one iPhone, but went back immediately to the Anti-Glare (couldn't stand the fingerprints).

Installation is pretty easy.  Just make sure you're in a dust-free room, and have some scotch tape available (to dab away any dust particles).  It's held on by static cling, so no liquids or anything to mess with (like the InvisibleShield by Zagg).  The InvisibleShield was really good about not showing fingerprints too, but I didn't like the rubbery texture.  (And there's no way I would attempt to put one of those on -- I had it put on at their kiosk outside an Apple store when I first got my iPad.  I believe they sell them at Best Buy also, and they'll put it on for you for a nominal fee.)

The last time I was in an Apple store, I noticed they carry PowerSupport shields now.  I don't know if they carry any others -- I just happended to recognize the PowerSupport packaging as I was walking by.
(There's a video showing the application process.)

Edited to add: Just read over on MacRumors that if you purchase the PowerSupport shield at an Apple store, they'll install it for you.

Just wanted to let anybody interested know that the all black WedgePad is now available for sale, and is clearly identified as such when you get to the WedgePad page to select it. They are also having a specials, 2 iPad cleaning cloths for $6 instead of $9. Of course, I had to order both  ::)

I finally got my all-black WedgePads (ordered one for my son also) this morning.  They're much nicer than my sharpie-colored old ones!  ;D ;D ;D

If it is okay with the moderators, I will post the link to the Sophos Apple Antivirus, if anyone is interested.
Eeyore, please post the link so we can all have access to it.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post all of this information.  Most of it's way over my head, but it's much appreciated!!  :)

You can kindlemama, your most welcome! :)
It would be a looooong drive since I'm on the opposite coast!   ;)

Back to the subject on hand:

I have a black iPad and a white iPhone.  If I were to get another iPad, I would go with black again.  I think I would find the white border around an iPad distracting, as I did on the Kindle.  I have no regrets with the white iPhone though.   ;D

Quite a satisfying reason....
kevin53garcia, did you mean to have your entire address listed when you post?  Might want to edit out your street address -- ??

Is that on iPad?  I can't seem to make that happen on my iPhone.
No, it works on the iPhone too -- just tried it to make sure.  Just a light swipe, then a red Delete button will come up.

Android only, actually.  They have their own App Store for the Android platform, and they give away one paid app for free every day.
Oh, okay, thanks.  I didn't want to think I was missing out on anything.  ;D

Make sure to visit Crazy Dave's shop and buy things as you collect more money.  ;)  I always buy the rake -- only costs $200 and lasts three games; it kills the first zombie, so it buys you a little more time at the beginning of each level.

Also, if you're relying on the lawn mower, then get the pool and roof thingies (don't know the names) from Crazy Dave when you get to those levels -- they work just like the lawn mowers, but in the water and on the roof.  ;D

Have fun!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Edited to add: Oops, just noticed the response came from geko29.  Thanks, geko.  The rest of my post is obviously meant for Andra.  :-\

How do I clear everything off Words For Friends. I have games on there that I want to clear off.

amyberta, if you want to delete completed games, you can go to the Games Over section and do a quick swipe (with your finger) on each game, and a Delete button will come up.

As CNDudley said, if it's an active game you want to get rid of because the other person hasn't made a move, you're kind of out of luck.  You either have to wait for them to make a move and then resign while it's your turn, or just wait for the game to finally just drop off on it's own -- I think it's somewhere around 10 days.  :(

That's why it's nice to play with people from this board -- you're pretty much guaranteed your games will remain active.  ;D

Amazon had this as it's free app of the day yesterday and DH and I are both somewhat hooked.  We spent the evening yesterday sitting next to each other absorbed in our own games :)

I'm glad that this thread with strategies is still around.  I remembered about needing lots of sunflowers and that helped me get through the first few levels.  I also didn't realize that if a zombie got through all my plants, the lawnmower would run him over.  That saved me once or twice!

It is quite addicting, isn't it?   ::) :o  I just got it for my iPhone, and was disappointed to find that the iPhone's version doesn't have Survival Mode (once you beat Adventure Mode) like the iPad does.  :(  Still fun, though.  ;D

Where does Amazon have a free app of the day?  I've never heard of that.  Is it for apps for all the iDevices?  ???

Interesting, big but interesting. Think I will stick with my wedgepad!
Me too.

One of the things I like most about my WedgePad is that it attaches to the iPad -- I just carry it around with me as a unit around the house.  :)

Thanks for all the info, Eeyore.  Good to know! 

You can get a web browser for IOS that will enable you to view Flash videos. I think its called Skyfire. It cheats by converting the flash to html 5 on a remote server and then sends it to your device.

My son has had some luck with iSwifter.

Woe is me! >:(  Waited all morning for FedEx to deliver the Vaja- out on the truck for delivery by 10:30.  It didn't arrive and when I checked the tracking on-line again, it claimed an exception with wrong delivery address.  Called FedEx and the address was correct, they put it on the record, but claimed they can't contact the truck and it will probably go back to FedEx and another attempt will be made tomorrow.  It's pouring, did the driver not want to exit the truck on a rainy day???  No local number for FedEx, so I am stuck waiting to see if they can find the house tomorrow.  Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't end up going back to Brazil! ::)
Are you close to the local distribution center?  I've gone down and picked up packages after the trucks have come back in for the day.  (I think they say after 6PM -- in our area.)

I wouldn't want to chance the package going back to Brazil!  If you get the same driver (and chances are pretty good you would), unless they red flag the package somehow, there's a chance he might do the same thing again.

If there's any way possible, I would make a copy of the FedEx tracking report and take that down with me to the distribution center.  (Ours is open 24/7, I think.)

I'm sorry this happened to you. :'(  If it's any consolation, I have the Vaja iVolution...their products are totally worth the wait.   :)

(I find it very hard to believe they have no way of getting hold of their drivers.  Maybe you could get a hold of someone at the local level.)

Yeah, his is actually the only negative review I've seen, which I thought was interesting.  Others have been raving about them.  It's not for me--I don't like the way they did the cutouts or the "born in new york" imprint on the back--but it does look like a possible option for some people anyway.
Yeah, it's good that there are so many choices.  Something for everyone.  :D

I'm happy with mine. The only thing I thought would make it better was if it was truly clear and not opaque -- but the more I read, the more it sounds like clear cases really show I think I'll stick with mine. :)  And it's not reeeeally opaque -- once it's on (a white iPhone), you can't even tell it's opaque.  The apple logo and all the writing can be clearly seen.  In fact, I wouldn't have even noticed it had we not tried it on the black iPhone.  And I really like that it doesn't make my screen protector bubble; that was a major concern for me.
