Writers' Cafe / Bookworm Proofreader looking to expand ~ All Genres ~
« on: July 19, 2019, 12:43:21 am »

My availability has been really limited lately, so I'm going to hide this for now and un-spoiler it when my free time opens up.

Hello everyone!

As someone who is starting to learn about the process of self-publishing, I wanted to offer up my services in case I can be of use for anyone here.

I currently work as a proofreader and copy editor for three publishers. I also do some quality control/QA work with e-book files to ensure that conversion went smoothly and no new problems were introduced in the process. In the past, my work has also involved working with writers in a development capacity, providing feedback and notes on drafts.

As someone who comes from a creative writing and fiction background, I would love the opportunity to work more directly with authors and to get a chance to work on a wider variety of material. All genres are welcome!

My rate for is $3/1,000 words for a close read, though I am open to discussing rates for more fast-paced passes for specific projects.

If anyone is in need of a proofreader, you can contact me here or through my email: [email protected]

Since most of my work has come through word-of-mouth or in-person connections, this kind of advertisement is not something I've ever written before--if I left something out that would be helpful, please let me know!

Introductions & Welcomes / Hello from SoCal :)

Hi there!  :)  After lurking here for a while, I've decided to finally take the plunge and be social.

My name is Brooke and I moved to the Los Angeles area for grad school after finishing my film and creative writing degrees back in North Carolina. I've always been an avid reader and am just now starting to come out of a bit of a writing hibernation now that I'm finally getting settled professionally. I currently work as a proofreader and copy editor for three publishers, while also trying to get my own projects off the ground in my spare time.

Looking forward to learning a lot from the people here!
