Let's Talk Kindle! / Frustration!
« on: August 31, 2010, 04:30:52 pm »
Hi gang

can anyone provide a link to the Mobiguide. I have it on my other Kindles but I have been trying to access it on my K3 and it keeps telling me it can't load.
the old link I have is not working.. I have downloaded this to all my kindles.. even feedbook took forever but its now on there but mobi has me going nuts..

The link I am using in my kindle browser is

NOT working

Okay now it tells me that the item can not be opened, even after the dowload, I went back to my K2 (have not updated since last month) and am getting the same message.. never had that happen.. is mobi no longer compatable with kindle software.. the feedbooks works fine.

Let's Talk Kindle! / K3 why Graphite?
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:14:11 pm »
Like many of you I ordered the wifi 3G and I was looking at Leslies poll and saw most of you ordered graphite.
Try as I might it just looks dingy and very masculine to me. I am curious.. what am I missing.. why did you go for the graphite.

I keep looking at it but can;t seem to get on board with it..

Let's Talk Kindle! / Transferring Collections to a new Kindle
« on: July 20, 2010, 03:46:58 pm »
I wanted to share with you what I figured out today.. Even the Customer Service rep at Amazon was not aware of this so I figured if I could save any of you time I needed to post this.

I had to copy my collections to another Kindle today.. both Kindles must still be registered (and this can work to transfer from any kindle to another as long as its the same account.)

Go to your archives first on the new Kindle. You then choose all the books you want moved over.. you have to do those individually. Once you do that.. go back to the archives and at the top it will say ADD OTHER DEVICE COLLECTIONS. click on that, it will show other devices on your account that have collections (if you share an account their name will show up as well)

toggle down to the one you want and press the joystick down.. the entire collection of titles shows up on the screen and the archived books will be placed in them.

IF for some reason you want to add stuff later you can still do this.. just download the books from the archive again.. go back to archives and press the other device key (its at the top) and use the same process.. so all the books will be in the collection as you had them, no doing it again or saving your collection titles

Make sure WHISPERNET IS ON while doing this and it goes without saying that both Kindles have to have the 2.5 update

Hope this helps

Kindle Accessories / KlearKase- BLOWN AWAY Personal customer service
« on: July 20, 2010, 01:37:58 pm »
Last week I posted a review about the issues i had putting KlearKase together. I had a rough time with it due to all the pieces, my cracked optic nerve and the fact I just couldn't do anything that required assembly.

I wrote to the company requesting a refund and got a personal note from the CEO.. we struck up a nice conversation via email..This man went OUT OF HIS WAY to make this situation right.. without going into details... (not necessary)

I can't tell you how blown away with the service and the personal attention was one of the best customer service experiences EVER!.. As a new company they are really going above and beyond to take care of new people.

After this situation they have found a loyal customer in me. I am beyond impressed.

Kindle Accessories / My KlearKase review
« on: July 14, 2010, 09:34:53 pm »
Maybe I am the exception but I hate this case and am disappointed it didn't work out. (before you ask.. yes I read the entire guide)

First of all it does have a nice fit however that is the only thing that makese sense.. If you love puzzles or assembly this is the case for you. However I have never been good at either.

The case has six sliders that are curved in various ways that need to come off totally to put your Kindle in it.. then you have to place the kindle in the case and put the six sliders back in various orders and flip it around (make sure you don't miss a spot or the Kindle can fall out) This little process took over 25 minutes. YOu need good eyesight because you have to line it up with the little grooves and trust me clear on clear is not easy to see.  Two pieces or maybe three.. but six not including the two piece case.. so including the sliders, the case and the jewel thingie (two pieces) you have 10 pieces in the case!

then lets talk about the joystick.. the jewels kept falling off, one man had a review where he had a fix.. something about making the plastic thinner by shaving it down (yeah not going to be doing that). I am not a handy type of girl so this was not going to be on my radar.

The jewels kept falling off and the menu kept going to some other place the joystick wouldn't go where it needed too and I ended up almost deleting some of my collection files (it kept asking if I wanted to delete it)  (we know how long THOSE took to do)

The look is nice.. and I didn't need a waterproof, like the guardian.  I wanted something clear and lighter weight and easy to use but to remove six pieces seems extreme.. also the little plugs kept popping out.  I am hoping they will pay for the return shipping.. not because of the pieces but because of that joystick.

Again this may work for some of you and you many love it.. several good reviews, but this is just my take and I wanted to share. I was really lookingg forward to this purchase.. can't tell you how sorry I am that it didnt work out.

Archives / SOLD: Kindle DX
« on: May 10, 2010, 06:33:07 pm »
Item is sold

I was browsing through Decalgirl today. had not been there in a while but I noticed a new series with some cute drawings but all the captions read "Life is Crap".. is it me or is this depressing (and a little crude).. why would you carry it.

I like some of the drawings and think they would be cute but I wouldn't want to have Life is Crap written on anything I own.. I am sure it appeals to someone but it seems so "in your face"

what do you guys think?

Archives / SOLD- Kindle 1 owners, New cover.. never used -PICTURES
« on: February 26, 2010, 10:51:58 pm »
I was going through my Kindle accessories (yes I have too many) I found I guess what you would call the water resistant leisure jacket from Medge.. it is a plastic front and zips around the Kindle.. with a place for the button.. its very nice and I will be glad to send you a photo if you like..

Perfect to read by the pool, tub, sand.. etc.. thats what the original intent was but I bought it and then the K2 came out shortly after so I never used it.

I am not using my K1, this is still in original packaging I never used it, I paid 45.00 for it (I think) but will take best offer... if interested PM me.. thanks!

Let's Talk Kindle! / wow.. what a difference a year makes!
« on: February 08, 2010, 07:15:38 pm »
As mentioned before I have a K2.. that was dying a slow and sad death (15 minutes just to turn on?) I called CS to find out my Warranty was up in five days and instead of trouble shooting they sent me a new one  (one day shipping.. LOVE CS) (as you can see by my constant complaining to move 1000 plus items).

What I noticed though is this new one though is the difference in the screen!  I had one of the first K2's when they arrived and my screen was a darker grey color.. this new one is much nicer, bright and crisp.. next to each other you can really see it.... not nearly as dark and very easy to read... CS also told me battery life is a bit better too and for some reason my downloads are faster.. I guess there were a few tweeks since the first one.

I had no idea they fixed this screen issue.. I remember alot of complaints about it when it was first released.  But I have to say KUDOS to CS.. they were totally on the ball with this!

Let's Talk Kindle! / Help.. I am having a blonde moment
« on: February 05, 2010, 05:52:55 pm »
I am hoping someone remembers how to do this...

My K2 is dying a slow death.. it is five days away from being a year old.. I called CS.. and explained the issue, they were worried if we trouble shoot it may take longer then the warranty so they are sending me a new one which I will have Monday. (you have to love the CS dept at kindle!)

Here is my question.. I had a K1 and I remember that I transfered all my samples to my K2 when I got it.. but it was so long ago I can't remember how

My current K2 has a TON of samples and I want to transfer it to the new machine... do I copy it from the doc folder and then paste and clip it to the new one.. how do I do that.. I remember it was very simple to do but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks!!!!!

Kindle Accessories / Decal Girl Library Skin Update
« on: December 21, 2009, 02:55:20 pm »
As several of you know I ordered the Library skin to go with my Medge New Yorker cover.  When it arrived the design was far to dark and I was not happy with it overall. I liked the art but could barely see it.

I called them to see if it could be lightened but with copyright issues they told me it was not possible and I made arrangements to return mine.  In the meantime I went on the website and under the skin posted my comment (the artists do read those) as to why I returned the item and thanks to Patricia here on Kindleboard she alerted me they responded back to my comment on the site.

Long story short, the artist has agreed to lighten the skin a few shades and they are sending me a new one, when I called them today (as per the request on the website) the girl I spoke to said they had been alerted and they are shipping it tomorrow.. Anyway I wanted to pass on the great customer service and the fact they took care of the issue , not when I called but when the comment was posted on the site to be read, which I think was seen by someone who could make it happen

When I get the new skin I will give you guys my take on it but it was a nice surprise to have such a quick response

Kindle 2 Skin - Library

I recieved my New Yorker and "Gold Case" today.... Love them both.. here is the thing.. the "Gold" really looks like a silver , gold.. in short it could go either way, but its a pretty case and hard to show in a photo.  I am happy about that since I am more of a silver girl and this really works

Also the New  Yorker Case.. REALLY LOVE IT EVEN MORE IN PERSON.. it is SOOOOOooo cute!!! I love the little "bag " as well.. I think these are really nice.. also the interior on the New  Yorker case is a brownish. not the grey as usual.. works very nicely with the case.

Ever since Decalgirl changed their website I can't figure out what do to on ordering.. I get to the cart , login, shows my name, address.. etc and there is NO place to continue.  I tried resetting my font thinking that was the problem but its not helping.. under my phone number is the tab that lists CS.. etc.. but no continue button.. anyone else have this problem??

I finally  had to go to google checkout instead of regular... hated those extra steps but Love the skins, hate the new design of that website
