Not sure if anyone else saw this yet, but it seems to address many of the main complaints I have seen.

Not answers, but at least they are addressing it.

We want you to know...

Kindle Paperwhite is the best Kindle we've ever made by far, but there are certain limitations and changes from prior generations that we want you to know about.
Kindle Paperwhite does not have audio or Text-to-Speech. This makes the device smaller and lighter than it would otherwise be. Audio and an improved Text-to-Speech engine are supported on Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD.

Under certain lighting conditions, the illumination at the bottom of the screen from the built-in light is not perfectly even. See examples of how the screen looks in different lighting conditions. These variations are normal and are located primarily in the margin where text is not present. The illumination is more even than that created by a book light or lighted cover. The contrast, resolution and illumination of the Paperwhite display is a significant step-up from our prior generation.

The Kindle Paperwhite has 2 GB of storage. Some previous Kindle models had 4GB of storage. 2GB allows you to hold up to 1,100 books locally on your device. In addition, your entire Kindle library is stored for free in the Amazon cloud, and you can easily move books from the cloud onto your device.
Thank you, and we hope you enjoy Kindle Paperwhite.

The Book Corner / Humble eBook Bundle
« on: October 09, 2012, 11:06:39 am »
So, my first time posting something here.

On the gamer side of my life there has been a cool think being done in the indie gaming world for the past few years.  It's call the Humble Bundle.  This is where game makers throw their product into a bundle and then the public can pay what they like and pick who gets what amount of that for the limited time.

Apparently they are expanding that to more than just games and soundtracks.

They started the Humble eBook Bundle today and it includes 6 eBooks for whatever price you want to pay, then if you exceed the average, you get two more books as well.  Currently it is at an average of $10.13 which is a steal for these books.

The place and setup is legit and the charities they serve are great.

The KBoards Photo Gallery / New Decal Girl Skin (Carbon)

So I had the original Decal Girl skin and got a wild hair and decided to try out the 3cap one out...I didn't like the material and the adhesive was too strong to easily I ordered another DG skin.  Here's some pics.  I wanted a more basic design and this suits both my want to have a darker face AND keeps the design simple.

The Book Corner / Like Vampires? Military Sci-fi? Post Apocolyptic worlds?
« on: February 15, 2009, 08:55:33 am »
Since I have not gotten my Kindle yet and have been playing the juggling act on my audible account (been working through the audiobooks for the Songs of Fire and Ice and they are two credits each) I have bought a few audiobooks when they have gone on sale.  Most recently I went through the first of the Thursday Next books by Jasper Fford (fun author) as well as the first in this series.

Way of The Wolf by E.E. Knight

I thought I would share that I thoroughly enjoyed the first book.  Kind of reminds me of the Honor Harrington type military Sci-fi (or even a bit like Starship Troopers) but you throw in some supernatural elements and set it in a bleak future.

The Mrs said there were a few folks that shared my types of interests so I wanted to pass it on.

Now to decide if I get the rest of the series on Audible or on my Kindle.  ???

Introductions & Welcomes / Hello folks...the wife sent me over here.

I'm the SO of mom133d and since she had ordered the K2 and all it means that I get one or the other of the fun little machines.  Just figured I should say hey before scanning around at the other threads.
