Writers' Cafe / Getting the word out there...

I've finished the first novel and I am now trying to wrack my brain trying to get the word out there. I've tried Facebook ads and Project Wonderful but I haven't noticed any huge effects. Does anyone else out there have any suggestions?

I have been considering getting ISBN for my upcoming novel, and I saw that I could buy them in bulk. If I get an ISBN number, do I have to have a book ready for it, or can I buy them and assign them to works as needed.

This might be a stupid question, but I want to have all options on the table for me.

Hi -- I have a fairly interesting idea for a Romance novel, but it involves one of the main characters having a paraphilia -- something along the lines of "Lars and The Girl"?. Do you think that this would be a good idea or one that wouldn't fit the genre completely?

Hello -- I'm KayCi and I have uploaded my first book here at Amazon ("4 Bits and a Dollar") -- a collection of 4 short stories for $1.50 (cheaper than the magazines that rejected me. Ha!). Its nice to know there are other people here trying to come to grips with the idea of self-publication. I look forward to reading other people's work.
