Writers' Cafe / Wholesale
« on: December 09, 2019, 01:58:38 pm »
My husband and I recently wrote a book, and have had several online stores and companies, write to us asking to have it for their store.
I'm familiar with templates, formatting, editing and kdp - but feel like a deer in the headlights when they all asked "are they available at wholesale price?".

I've only posted the paperback and ebook to amazon, so the only way of acquiring my paperback is through amazon at the moment. Is there another way of doing this that I'm unaware of?

Writers' Cafe / Query Letter Help?
« on: August 27, 2018, 04:17:50 pm »
I'm in need of some help with writing a good "query" letter.
I'm not too sure where to start, and the websites I find are all contradicting of one another.
Are there any general templates, or tips/tricks to it that may help an author get noticed? Anyone who had a successful encounter with one of their query letters?

Thank you,

Writers' Cafe / Urgent Warning for all Authors!
« on: August 17, 2013, 12:10:29 pm »
As most authors on here know, there is a cover artist who is no longer mentioned due to her unprofessionalism, theft, and money stealing ways. We all know her as Anna Fagarazzi.

Unfortunately, today, she was founded out again, as a "new artist" named Anna V Rossen.

Anyone who wants to keep their money and their sanity, please do NOT refer to this cover artist. She is a scam and I hate to see people's hard earned work and money being wasted. I can't even begin to describe the horror stories of certain authors who have paid anywhere from $50 to $500 and never saw a dime back and no cover art either. If she DID end up doing them for you, she took weeks (sometimes months) and most never made their release date for the book.

Worst case was when she did covers, and they ended up being copyrighted images. Instead of the artist being blackballed, the author was instead, and these authors ended up having to take down their work due to the amount of hate mail received over "image theft" that they had no idea about in the first place.

Spread the word, please!

Writers' Cafe / Just a rant!
« on: May 20, 2013, 03:40:20 pm »
Got several reviews since my book has come out! Most of them good (4 stars average) which I'm pretty excited about!
However, I recently got a semi-okay review that sounded like they didn't even read the book. They got the names of my characters wrong, (spelled wrong). James was Jamie, Emily was Emilia, ect...
Then they went on to criticize how teenagery the heroine acted... when I clearly state the book is a young teen read. The heroine IS a teenager! Anyone else have any reviews that just don't make sense??

Writers' Cafe / I did it!
« on: May 01, 2013, 02:21:12 pm »
Hey guys!
Today was the day and I finally published my book! I previously released it last year, making the mistake of rushing things... but I took down and did a big rework and I'm finally 100% happy with it! I'm so excited I could scream!  :P
Thank you guys all so much for the help over the last few weeks (you know who you are!)

Writers' Cafe / Anyone else having issues on KDP?
« on: May 01, 2013, 05:14:49 am »
Hey guys -
I hit the big button last night. I had my email this morning telling me that it was live, published and available for sale.
I went to click the link they sent me and the page says "Not functional". I went to my bookshelf, all states that it's live.
I asked the question on the Kindle community and my question was deleted.
Sorry if this question is super obvious to others, but I'm new to all this!
Thank you!

Writers' Cafe / Good Book Bloggers?
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:19:12 am »
Hi Guys!
So, here's my question.
I had a huge blitz,tour,ect... all ready to go with someone relatively big, and I haven't heard back.
Now with my debuted release date closing in, I need to find some REALLY well known book bloggers or people who can get me around the others. Anyone know of some good bloggers, with equally good exposure?

Writers' Cafe / Publishing?
« on: April 17, 2013, 03:08:40 pm »
Hey guys!
Here's my dilemma. I'm re-releasing my book quite soon, and everything seems to be in order. The only thing I'm scared about is the publishing. I first published my book on Amazon KDP - the disclaimer read that I cannot post anywhere else. I'm assuming they mean Nook, Smashwords and other competitors. What do you think? Do you go with amazon kdp and nowhere else or do you put your book everywhere? If so, how do you go about it? I've heard about createspace and am not really sure what that's about.
I literally have no help my way, and I'm trying to figure stuff out all on my own. Any help would be appreciated. If I'm sounding like a dunce, be kind please. HAHA.

Writers' Cafe / Formatting your ebooks?
« on: April 05, 2013, 03:18:01 pm »
Hey guys!
So - here's a question. My laptop doesn't have Word, or any fancy typing thing, except for text edit.
I write all my books through there. However, with my first one coming out soon, I'm trying to figure out formatting. Can someone explain which ones would be necessary and how I would go about doing that? I've heard of epub and others, and I'm clueless. I'm very new to the game, so help is greatly appreciated.

Writers' Cafe / Cover Reveal!
« on: April 01, 2013, 06:07:32 am »
 ;D Hi guys!

I'm so excited to share with anyone and everyone!
Today was the big cover reveal on my blog and on other various sites :)
All I can say is Phatpuppy Art and Bookish Brunette are FANTASTIC <3

"Hoping to have a good change and good ending to go with it, Emily, a 16- year-old girl from Ohio, has moved to sunny California.

Moving to a new town can be scary, especially a new school. So when Sam, the most popular kid there, looks her way, she canít believe this is happening to her.

Everything seems to be working out fine. That is, until her mother buys an enchanted mirror by mistake.

Suddenly, Emily finds herself in a whole new world, full of talking animals, magic and more change than she was hoping for.

With the help of her new crush, Sam, and her annoyingly goofy 12-year-old brother James, Emily sets out to save their world and ours."

Writers' Cafe / The Importance of Cover Art?
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:07:38 pm »
Hi all!
Besides the fact that this very issue was the topic of my blog today...

I thought it would be an interesting topic of conversation :)

How important is book cover art? And did any one have to ever have re-do's because of bad experiences??

Writers' Cafe / Author Promotion?
« on: February 24, 2013, 10:53:21 am »
Hey Everyone  ;D

I'm a new author and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on author promotion?
I know there is a huge importance to social networking and creating a "buzz" around upcoming/new projects.
So how does one create this "buzz"? What I mean to say is... you can have all the twitter, facebooks, and blogs you want but this doesn't necessarily mean you'll automatically get fans/buyers, right?

So I guess my question is aimed to all you veteran authors out there. What did you do or still do to keep interest around on your books? How did you get the fan base you have now by just starting out with your first book? :)

Introductions & Welcomes / Completely Clueless, But NEW and EXCITED <3
« on: February 19, 2013, 08:12:19 am »
Hi Guys!  ;D
As the title says, I'm completely clueless on how all this works but I wanted to come over and say hello!
I'm new here and although I created this account last year I only made the one post and my book that was on Kindle was pulled down.
I wanted to rework it and make sure I had the proper following and backing behind it before I just threw it out into space!
To tell you a little about me, I'm a new author the scene... I've written a young teens book called "The Color Keepers". I think I've gotten it to the point now where I'm 100% happy with it. It has been a rewrite for over 5 years.
I am happy to meet all of you and hope some of us can be great buds  ;)

Please feel free to share anything of yours or exchange social networking!

Thanks guys and Nice to "Meet" You!!!!!
Catriona Crehan

Hi ya'll :)
I'm Catriona, 19 years old and a first time author. I'm new to this whole "kindle" thing, and I'm hoping to make a few friends.
I've recently written my first novel and have posted it on Kindle :) "The Color Keepers" is a book I've been working on for a VERY long time. I first started writing it when I was 14 and have worked on it ever since. I made re-write after re-write, and lost interest for a while, but after pushing myself to finish it gave me a new vigor, to work through my sequel as well as a new novel.

I see that there is a lot of friendly people on here and I can't wait to here from you all!
I'm currently trying to figure out how to promote my book. If any of you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them! :)
Thanks guys!

I am a new author and have worked over 4 years perfecting my first book.

"When an average girl's life is turned upside down by a wicked queen, she must find a way to deal with change and family while battling through a land of unforeseen problems and a romance that's on the verge of becoming something incredible."

The Color Keepers - by Catriona Crehan

This would be bracketed under YA Fiction. Romance, Adventure, and Fantasy!
