Let's Talk Kindle! / new basic kindle generation 8
« on: July 07, 2016, 02:50:41 pm »
got it today and its great IMHO but I like basic readers. Is about the size of the voyage and about the same size. Text is nice and dark and has all the extras of the higher priced readers but no lights which sometime I prefer. The case that I got and is offered by Amazon is top notch though it would of been nice to have a navy blue cover it is not a biggie as black works just as well...had a small problem getting the ads off but customer service helped and in fact didn't charge me...I usually read a couple books and just started a reread of a favorite book...Robert B Parker and his Spenser series Rough Weather...

Let's Talk Kindle! / new pricing-anyone notice
« on: October 28, 2015, 03:30:39 pm »
I didn't really take notice of it till the most recent and both books I bought were 14.99 but the publishers have amazon, BN and Kobo signed to new pricing and all the newer releases that I was going to buy are now 12.99 to 14.99...now I don't mind paying a bit more but on Novemeber 3 the Connolly book is 14.99 and the hardback is 14.00...is there something I'm missing?

Let's Talk Kindle! / AMAZON and lousy customer service
« on: November 30, 2012, 03:33:04 pm »
well this is an area that use to be the icing on the cake but over the past year & IMO due to overseas handling of calls their service has dropped significantly.I have always up to know usually have an easy time of it except for occasional minor issues. However today maybe the day Amazon loses my business. I bought the PW and received one of the 1st shipments. I after a week decided it needed to go back and as is my usual I tracked to may sure it was received by Amazon and yes I got my credit. Well ten days ago I got a warning e mail that I had not sent it back and soon I would be charged for the PW...So I called and they verified that indeed that e-mail was a mistake so ignore. Well today I got an e-mail from Amazon & surprise they charged me anyway. I have to say this is unacceptable. Now before all you " I always get great service" pop up to tell me I'm wrong & should just ignore this as a minor goof, sorry can't ignore this. This is too much for this old guy who hands customer calls at a bank all day. Just a heads up to others to make sure to follow up your returns...hope everyone has a nice holiday , I will stay away from their site for the time being and see how I feel another day...

Let's Talk Kindle! / bad CS calls
« on: October 16, 2012, 05:31:23 am »
i say calls because I called back after the 1st one was rude and they were actually worse. The K5 has a connection issue on the power button and they are fussing with me about a reboot which I did & a reset of the device, they told me I wasn't holding it long enough. I hung up and the 2nd CS was no different. Basically I don't get it I've have 4 kindles and 2 fires but all the newer stuff will go back tonight I cannot & will not deal with this type of bad service...sorry for the rant, I got to get a heart pill...

Fire Talk / misformated books
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:59:38 am »
just wondered if anyone has noticed some books do not work well on the Fire, 2 in question is Stephen Hunter's Soft Targer, it is not centered but set to the left. On calling CS they said there was nothing they could do as it was sent that way...second was Steven Hamilton North of Nowhere where the fonts seemed off , the one I usually use was a bit small one notch up was too big...anyway just asking if anyone has seen instances of these 2 issues, thanks...

Let's Talk Kindle! / k touch pages jumping around-losing place
« on: December 04, 2011, 06:41:44 am »

Fire Talk / Volume on the Fire and using external speakers
« on: November 18, 2011, 04:59:16 am »
Maybe its me but the only way I can hear a lot of video or music is turn the volume all the way up & I hope there is an update that would allow it to go louder. I don't want to blast people out but most items only need to go 1/2 way or 3/4 this does not allow any wiggle room...

Let's Talk Kindle! / 3 strikes
« on: October 06, 2010, 05:37:28 am »
got my 3rd replacement-graphite-wifi & it's ok except the power button sticks , in fact just got stuck in one position & I had to force it back to the the left side. That's 4 & non have been right, bad buttons, bad refresh rate , damaged screens , something different on each on. I'm going to return it  for a refund & figure out something else as my k2 is being used by my wife uses as I'm not like I'm going to ask for it back...frustrated...

Let's Talk Kindle! / amazon & the k3 in hindsight
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:23:56 pm »
I have been very vocal against Amazon I'll admit that up front. But after a nice chat tonight with a very listenable kindle support person I have to take back a lot of what I said. I mean we talked awhile, he did give me some insight to what could be causing my problem...Amazon has really done a good job when you looked at what they tried to do...new screen new footprint & a lot of new customers. They are overwhelmed IMO and have been playing catch up since the get go...I'm going to stick with the unit I have because I believe they will get this right & I have always said to a friend that got me to buy my first k (k2) amazon just does it right & I don't see that changing. Just saying that despite my negative tone's I still believe they will get it right, I'm just vocal because of my disappointment but sometimes with all new products there are bumps in the road...sorry for being wordy...

Let's Talk Kindle! / to go back to my k2 or keep the k3
« on: September 27, 2010, 05:40:53 am »
I have had issues with the k3, odd software stuff, slow page turns, books disappearing in the archived section...I got 2 replacements sent. First one had a totally busted right side turn button...the second seemsed good but the sides were not glued down tight you could see gaps on bothe sides of the unit. I know people here think I like to pick on Amazon. This is not true I just think you should bet what you pay for, I ended up keeping the unit I had & jusr reseting it but the slow page thing is still cropping up. My wife suggested that she would give me back the k2 return the k3 & just make due. I have been spoiled by the screen & I'll be honest I feel like giving up & buying paperback, just totally disgusted...

Let's Talk Kindle! / slow page turns almost froze
« on: September 08, 2010, 09:21:57 am »
I know this topic has been covered but I barely got to reset it before it froze, this looks like a memory issue with the software...I only have read about 80 pages & loaded 7 books, I hope they have that software issue soon...
