Writers' Cafe / Website Developer Recs?
« on: April 07, 2015, 02:05:50 pm »
Hi guys, I searched for this topic, but my searching abilities aren't the best and I ended up with a lot of topics that didn't really seem to apply.

I'm looking for recommendations for a website developer. Specifically, someone to make me a pretty, easy-to-use, customized Wordpress site. Anyone absolutely adore their website creator?

Thanks!

Writers' Cafe / Cover Art and Fonts
« on: September 28, 2014, 05:13:46 pm »
Quick question for cover artists and/or writers who make their own covers. I mostly buy covers from cover artists (and will continue to do so for most of my stories), but I'm working with the hubby to try to make one for a short story. He does a good job with the images in Photoshop, but the fonts we've tried aren't working for me so far (they just don't look quite right). We've been working with free fonts, and I'm wondering if that might be part of the issue. Do you guys mostly use commercial fonts?

Writers' Cafe / One Hundred Free Books Paid Options
« on: July 21, 2014, 12:19:33 pm »
Hi guys, does anyone have any experience with OHFB's paid options? I've had great results from Freebooksy and BKnights, but haven't tried these guys yet, and $75-$100 is pretty pricey for a freebie. If they get downloads comparable to Freebooksy it might be worth it. Anyone have any data for downloads after using this service?

Writers' Cafe / D2D and Vendor Links
« on: July 19, 2014, 12:45:47 pm »
I searched for this topic, but I could't find anything that specifically addressed this (apologies if I just missed it).

If I want to include vendor-specific links in my book (meaning, the B&N version has links in the back to each book's B&N page, and likewise for ibooks), how do I do that with D2D? Do I have to create two different books for each book, or is there another way to do this that I'm not seeing?

I emailed D2D about this yesterday, but I haven't heard back yet.

Thanks!

Writers' Cafe / Updated Book Question
« on: June 26, 2014, 04:00:42 pm »
Does anyone know how you would be able to get an updated version of a book, after it has already been uploaded and published on Amazon (same ASIN), without having to wait for Amazon's email notice to go out and update button to be added?

I've been looking for instructions on how to do something like this, but everything I've found revolves around Amazon adding that "Update Book" button under the "Manage Your Content" section.

Writers' Cafe / Making changes during a Countdown?
« on: June 25, 2014, 12:10:15 pm »
I've been trying to upload a corrected version of a file for one of my books. The changes show as live, and it shows the correct file in the KDP previewer, but when the book is purchased or the "Look Inside" feature is used, it's still the wrong book. Could the fact that it's in a Countdown deal right now be messing up the update?

I've sent questions to KDP, too, but they're a little slow. Just thought I'd ask here. Thanks! :)

Writers' Cafe / Combining pen names?
« on: February 19, 2014, 09:37:11 am »
Hi there! This is probably a dumb question, but I wanted to see if anyone had ever been in a similar situation and had some advice. When starting off on this journey, I thought that it would be a good idea to use two different pen names for genres that are similar enough that it doesn't really make sense to have two. Has anyone ever done this? If I have the other pen name only on Amazon, can I simply go in and change the file/cover/author name and keep the ASIN and such, or would I have to pull down the book, republish, and just note in the blurb that it was previously published under a different name?

Both pen names are under the same KDP account. My main concern is that I don't want customers who have bought the story before to accidentally rebuy it. Not that there have been that many sales, but it's still a concern.

Thanks so much for your help!
