Not Quite Kindle / Repower America - how you can help
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:18:33 pm »
Do you believe in Obama's vision to move to 100% clean electricity in 10 years? Do you want to help? Then I invite you to visit Repower America http://action.repoweramerica.org/t/4613/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=525 . Al Gore has a short video clip there, and there is also a letter you can use to send to your representatives. They have made it really easy to do so. Simply fill in your name and info and hit send. This will send the letter automatically to the correct representatives. It's really easy and really quick, so if this is something you believe it supporting, go for it! :)

Oh, and it would be great if we don't make this a political horse-beating thread. If you support this, then I invite you to follow through. If you don't, then no biggie, just move along. ;)

Not Quite Kindle / Epcot's Light Show
« on: December 10, 2008, 08:11:58 pm »
What a great way to finish off our week in Disney! We saw the Epcot show IllumiNations tonite. What an incredible show! The fireworks were incredible, the sentiment of the show was perfect, the laser lights added a neat touch...but the thing that got me the most? They sang Let There Be Peace On Earth at the end! That is one of my favorite songs from way back. (And they kept the original lyrics! YAAY!) That song has always made me cry, and this time was no different! Of course, ask Mike and the boys and they'll tell you I cry at everything, so this isn't a big deal. LOL

Anyway....sigh....Disney sure does know how to do it right, don't they! This has been a perfect week. We will still be here tomorrow, but had planned on heading to the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad. If it's too bad to drive that distance, then we'll just hang around here, check out Downtown Disney and get ready to head out Friday morning.

I LOVE Disney! When can we come back??? :D

The Book Corner / Finding new authors - here's what I do
« on: November 27, 2008, 12:02:22 pm »
I LOVE discovering new novels/authors on my Kindle. It's one of the many reasons that I love it so much - it's allowed me to explore genres I might never have discovered otherwise.

Here's what I do:

I get emails from Barnes & Noble, Random House and the "Whats New on Kindle" email. When I get those, I go directly to Amazon, to the Kindle store and search to see if it's there. If it's there, and I'm interested, then I download the sample (hence the many pages of samples I have!) I have found soo many wonderful stories that I would otherwise have never come across this way, or would never have explored, I guess I should say.

The other thing I do, and I LOVE doing this, because I love bookstores (surprise, surprise!) is to go to Borders or B&N and stroll around, making a list of any book that catches my eye. Then again, I'll cozy up with my computer and Amazon and see if the book is on the Kindle, and if so, I download the sample.

Life with a Kindle is good! :)

Introductions & Welcomes / New to the board, but not to the Kindle
« on: November 26, 2008, 03:01:30 pm »
Hello there everyone!

My DH, Mike, known to you all as KreelanWarrior, suggested I stop by here and make myself at home, so here I am. :)

I'm Jan, and my Kindle doesn't have a name. Well, I guess it does. It's name is whatever the name of the book is that I'm currently reading. ;)

I am a WAHM, creating digital scrapbooking supplies for a company/site called Scrap Girls. Digital scrapbooking is my first love, and takes up most of my time. Of course, I also love to read, cross-stitch, play video games, and nap, not necessarily in that order! :)

We have two boys, Samuel, age 12 and Ben, who will be turning 10 on Sunday. They keep us busy and running with sports and various other activities. Life is good, although it passes by way too fast. :)

So, I'm going to go off exploring now. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. :)

Jan
