Writers' Cafe / Seeking Recommendations for Great Books for a New Author
« on: September 09, 2017, 06:40:31 pm »
I am trying to help someone that I met online to get started on his first book. Can anyone recommend a great book that discusses the process of writing and takes him through publishing? Let's just say that I wouldn't want him to go through all the mishaps that I went through. It would be best if it was one that would help him navigate the current platforms and isn't too complicated or long-winded. I believe money is tight, a great price would be a plus.

I'm talking about one link that when used should take the person clicking the link to their favorite Amazon marketplace.

I've seen other authors use this, which I call a universal link (not sure what it is really called), but not sure how they obtained it.

If it isn't a big secret requiring special handshakes or passwords, could someone let me know how I go about getting one?

I ask because it occurred to me that I could use this on my blog posts and possibly other social media to help promote other people's work.

Anything Else Amazon / Amazon Smile - A Way to Give While You're Getting
« on: December 17, 2016, 06:07:48 pm »
Many people feel like giving around this time of year. But what if you could give to a charity while you are shopping on Amazon. That's where Amazon Smile comes in. It does not matter the amount that your particular purchases add up, the charity is given a sum total from all participants. So the more participants the more donations go to a particular charity. At least this is my take on the whole thing.

I promise I'm not advocating any charity above another. I just want those who'd like to donate to a charity to know this is an option.  There are numerous charities... some that come up right away and others you can type in to see if they are on the list.

Writers' Cafe / I am wondering if anyone else is listed on iAuthorUK
« on: March 10, 2016, 01:39:29 pm »
I realize authors are always looking for places to place their books so they can be discovered.  I was wondering if anyone else on here is listed on iAuthorUK -

I get periodic emails from them, thus a trigger that reminds me to check on there as well. It seems each of our books gets seen on there. May not be people's cup of tea but at least it is being seen.

It takes a little bit to add the books and links but it might be worth it if you are wondering where else to put your books to be discovered.

Have a great one!

Update: September 11, 2019

The books will no longer be a part of Kindle Unlimited. I am going to put the books open to multiple vendors within the next few weeks.

Each of these messages shows how things have progressed over time.

The clients currently being served will get their bodies of work as soon as I can get it completed. After that, any previous client who needs work will be served as my schedule permits.

I will remove my website and Yellow Pages ads.

I am new to KBoards and wanted to say hello.  I have added myself and my book-writing partner to the author page. I have created a signature line. What other neat things can I do on here?  :o
