The Book Bazaar / Serendipity House
« on: July 01, 2020, 07:49:18 am »
I just realized that I never started a thread for the very first book I published. Lynn O'Dell from the now defunct Red Adept Reviews named it the Best Indie Romance of 2011. It's now been reduced to only 99 cents. Here is a brief synopsis.

Sylvie was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiance pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of the altar on the day she's to wed. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks in. Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days; even the regulars have a bit of wear on them.

When Alex arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie tries to ignore him. But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself, that she's falling for him. Not until she's hired to manage the inn does she learn he's not the businessman he pretends to be, but a streetwise P.I. hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he buys the inn and asks her to help renovate it.

Thanks for reading. Serendipity House is the first book in the first row below. Hope you'll check it out.

Writers' Cafe / Re: Amazon.co.uk problem
« on: June 27, 2020, 06:39:19 am »
I just answered this in another thread. You need to log out of your account to see prices.

6
Amazon.UK just answered and said to log out of my account there and I can see them. I had to search to find the log out button but when I did log out I was able to see prices and they're all over the place. It's going to take some time to figure out how to fix it.

7
I got it as well. But I can't check it out because I can't see prices on Amazon UK. They're not visible to US authors unless you've ordered and sent gifts to UK addresses.

Sorry you had to wade through all those old posts. But if you did, thank you. I'm posting to announce that Rubies and Other Gems is now only 99 cents. I ask that you please give it a try. It's not your typical time-travel tale.

So Wonderful as Want, still the favorite of all my books, is now 99 cents on all platforms.

Won't you check it out?

It was a golden time to be young. A time of wonder and discovery, a time of innocence not yet lost but recklessly unguarded.

The time is 1911, and two young girls sit on the edge of a rough-hewn dock. One wants more than her station in life affords her; the other has simple needs, simple wants. Perched on the precipice of womanhood, each is eager to partake of life's bounties. Only one would taste its sweetness.

So Wonderful as Want is still on sale for 99 cents, down from $3.99. Won't you check it out?

5 stars - I'm happy to announce that So Wonderful as Want has been recognized by Author JB Richards as an IHIBRP Recommended Read in the IHI Book Review Project. See for yourself why this family saga has such great reviews.

Set among the natural beauty of Southwest Florida before and during the land boom of the twenties, an unsophisticated country girl becomes the well-spoken and often outspoken wife of a successful businessman. Years later, disillusioned with wealth and privilege, she longs for the simple life she left behind and the man whose only offense was loving her. 4.7 star average. Check out the 4th book in lineup below. Thanks.

Writers' Cafe / Re: How Do You Get Your Story Ideas?
« on: August 07, 2019, 02:39:12 pm »
I've had all of the same experiences as the previous posters. But the one that sticks out in my mind came about when my college-age daughter was home on a break and mentioned that a classmate of hers who'd been adopted as an infant had been contacted by his birth parents. That set in motion a range of possibilities for my writer's mind; the end result became Tomorrow Blossoms.

What's the deciding factor for you when choosing your next book to read? Good reviews? A 4.7 star average? Not good enough? Okay, how about a 99 cent sale through Sunday, June 2?

Personally, I would feel cheated if the sections you posted didn't lead to a good romp in the hay at some point in the book. And it wouldn't have to be graphic to be satisfying either.

I never saw this thread before today, but I'll add what I do to unwind. I like to do jigsaw puzzles. And they're cheap at garage sales. 25 or 50 cents.

Writers' Cafe / Re: Where is the best place to get reviews of my book?
« on: January 07, 2019, 07:50:34 am »
The thing about needing reviews isn't just about attracting readers. Without a minimum number of reviews it's hard to get a spot on many of the better promo sites no matter how much money you throw at them. They want those reviews. I've given away free books hoping to get reviews. I had one just two weeks ago. No new reviews at all, only the two I already had. So reviews may not be important to some, but they definitely help when promoting.

Thanks for downloading, David. I appreciate it. I put it up for free because I desperately need more reviews. It's hard to book spots on promo sites without the required number of reviews.
